I'm 40% through it. I'm reading it on Librivox with my wife in the car, so my finish date depends greatly on how much driving we do.
Good! I can also plan accordingly! After finishing Black Beauty (which is really short) I'll immediately get down to it. I'll hopefully finish it before the end of June, because I want to do it as an audio and I don't do two audios at the same time (Karamazov is also scheduled as an audio). I do prefer the audio format for long reads...
Me too with the audio! I only do one at a time and my next will be Moby Dick, I love this format for longer books.
Hey :) Just reminding everyone that there will be an upcoming buddy read of Fahrenheit 451 in June.
I have a physical copy of the book (my amazing friend gifted me some books on my TBR list...yep, she spoiled me!) and it doesn't seem long at all. So it can be read quickly or spaced out if you've got a busy schedule.
Who will be joining? :)
And this is the spoiler thread for it.

Wonderful! I hope we have a great time reading and discussing this one :)
I happened to open my copy on a train journey this morning (barely any progress, I ended up being more sleepy since it was after an overnight shift).

Thanks for the reminder. I won't be joining in this time, but I've read it before and so I'll be interested to see what you all think of it. I'll also add it to the buddy read schedule list with a link to the discussion thread :)
I also read this one already, this month, so still fresh in memory. I´ll be looking forward for your opinion about it.

I"m surprised that it hasn't been revisited for several years! That's really surprising to me.
I've read this several times, as well as the novella and stories it was expanded from (A Pleasure to Burn: Fahrenheit 451 Stories) so wouldn't re-read but I'll jump in on any discussions.

Cool, yeah, it would be fresh in your head! You must join the discussion then :) if you're able to, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it too.

It has featured in the polls for a re-read, but hasn't got enough votes. Wouldn't be surprised if many people have read it - it seems short, and it's so well known and highly recommended. And, wow, you've read it several times already! Looking forward to reading your thoughts on it :)

I would love to join in the buddy read for Fahrenheit 451, but I have too many books on my slate for June, already, including a buddy read for The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. (I'm really looking forward to that one!) Maybe if I finish my other June books, I can join in your discussion at some point. I've always wanted to read it. (I loved Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes.)
Love to have you chime in at any point MMG. You are sure to love The Heart is a Lonely Hunter! I definitely want to get to Something Wicked soon.

Thanks, Sara!
Thanks, Sara!
Chris and I are planning a buddy read of The Mysteries of Udolpho for July. Kathy and Sara I think you were both interested in this too, so it would be great if you still want to join us. Everyone is welcome!

I'm planning at this point to join in with The Mysteries of Udolpho...July (or August) will work for me...
I really want to read Udolpho, but can't get to it until at least August, so I will try to catch up with this group read when I can!
Kathleen wrote: "I really want to read Udolpho, but can't get to it until at least August, so I will try to catch up with this group read when I can!"Kathleen, it looks as though you and I are destined to bring up the rear on this book too. Maybe we should think about incorporating a Caboose Award for some of these reads! ;-)

Sure! I'd be in the running for that one, Bat-Cat. All aboard!

Slow and steady wins the race! ;-)
Hi, I'm not sure where to post things. I saw that the group has already read
The Count of Monte Cristo but I have never read it and want to read it before the end of the year. I'm going to read Gone with the Wind with you all coming up next week. Well, I will be slow reading since I read a few at a time but am going to try to read these big ones at least 50 to 100 pages a day. I'm also looking forward to a few more tomes to read that you are reading this year. Now that my rambling is over! I was hoping to see if anyone would want to re-read the Count of Monte Cristo or do I just read it and comment on the old threads myself? I am sure I will need help on this big book to figure out what's going on. :-)
Always feel free to comment on the book threads from previous reads. Even if no one is buddy reading with you, those of us who have previously read the book will likely comment.
Would love to read Dr Zhivago in group read if it doesn't win. I'm thinking October or November to accommodate War and Peace in September.

An amazing book! I read this, not long ago and I don't think I intend to re-read it just yet. But I hope there are others that are interested and join you. Otherwise, it's definitely a book that can be enjoyed regardless! :)

Melissa, I would love to read The Count of Monte Cristo but need to assess my reading schedule before I can commit. I will let you know.

Brina wrote: "Would love to read Dr Zhivago in group read if it doesn't win. I'm thinking October or November to accommodate War and Peace in September."I'm a horrible and unreliable buddy-read partner, but it is on my list of books to read this year.
Mine too :). I'm actually sticking to Gone With the Wind starting Monday. I'm also usually unreliable but having a reading plan will actually force me to get the books on my list read.
Gone With the Wind is an excellent book! It took awhile, but the pages flew by.Same with The Count of Monte Cristo
Both will take time cause they're so long, but they're both worth it.
Brina wrote: "Would love to read Dr Zhivago in group read if it doesn't win. I'm thinking October or November to accommodate War and Peace in September."Okay, I won't add to the buddy read schedule yet, as I'll wait to see if it wins a group read first :)
I just got myself a new (Dutch) translation of Dr Zhivago, so I might join in as well (if I can hold out). :)
Whether group read or buddy, I will join in on Dr. Zhivago as it's part of my Bingo Challenge. Always more enjoyable with others along to chat with.
Chris, would be happy to have you in the group. I would have never started Gone With the Wind if I didn't start this buddy read.
The way the Polls are going, it looks like I won't be participating in any group reads in August, and there's nothing yet scheduled as a buddy read for that month either, soooo... ;o)one book I have looming which I would really like to read with others is Don DeLillo's Underworld
would anybody be interested in joining me...?
I've owned a copy of Gone with the Wind for years, but never got around to reading it. This buddy read sounds like a great way to get started.
Yvette I hope you join in. Darren I'm going to be reading Life on the Mississippi in Aigust even if it doesn't win. You are welcome to join in.

I actually have Underworld pencilled in for August on my reading schedule. I think it would be super helpful/interesting to have some people to read along with.
