OK so I am ridiculously overloaded for February (even for me), but I'm going to go ahead with Thus Spoke Zarathustra anyway (grits_teeth_smiley), so can we have that added to the schedule please Pink? :o)

I'm putting out a call for anyone interested in a buddy-read of Dune. Terris and I are looking at a May timeframe. I think Leni mentioned she was interested, too. The more the merrier!
Tammy wrote: "I'm putting out a call for anyone interested in a buddy-read of Dune. Terris and I are looking at a May timeframe. I think Leni mentioned she was interested, too. The more the merrier!"May sounds a good time to me! Dune is a definite TBR for me this year! =)

Tammy wrote: "I'm putting out a call for anyone interested in a buddy-read of Dune. Terris and I are looking at a May timeframe. I think Leni mentioned she was interested, too. The more the merrier!"Without a push I will probably never read this. I'm in.

Oh, I've been meaning to re-read Dune for ages and never quite get the push! I'd totally be in for May! :)

Lots of interest for Dune! I might join as well, depending on what else I'm reading at the time. I'll add it to the schedule for May.
Yay, Pink! The more, the better. I’m a fantasy fanatic and I’ve never gotten around to it. It will be great!
I'm new to this group and have a buddy read question. How much advance notice does one need to give for a request? I just began reading THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV and would love some company :)
There's no requirement for giving notice, you just need someone else willing to join you. So sometimes a bit more time in advance helps people to plan things. I'm hoping to read The Brothers K this year after bailing on the group read of it, but I won't be ready for a while yet. Good luck!
I have BrosK down for August, but could possibly shuffle things around and bring it forward... (not til April at the very earliest though!)
Thank for reaching out, Darren, but I'm definitely rolling with Brothers K now. I recently read Crime and Punishment and want to stick with Dostoyevsy while I'm in the mood :)

Where are you in the book? I still working on reading this one. The discussion threads are here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I'm debating whether to pick up The Invisible Bridge, The Sea of Fertility, or Miss MacIntosh, My Darling as my next long read. Is anyone interested in any of them?
Not sure if this is the right place, but what is the easiest way to find if there are existing threads for a novel and ‘activate’ them? I’m reading The Three Musketeers with Erin this month. Everyone else interested is more than welcome to join :O)
Our read threads are always open. The Three Musketeers have three treads, two spoiler and one non-spoiler. They are located in the Dumas Collection folder, just click below link.

I finally have a complete set of The Story of the Stone by Cao Xueqin if anyone wants to have a go at that with me.
I have read the first two volumes of The Story of the Stone, hope to get to the third this year. Magnificent.
Anyone up for reading Lonesome Dove in a couple months? It's rather a long one at 900+ pgs. It won the Pulitzer for fiction and people tell me it's great.
On the subject of Larry McMurtry: All his non-fiction - essays and memoirs - is well worth checking out. He is one of the lovable guys of literarure, a real mensch. Like Stephen King and Louis L'Amour, he is supremely devoted to books and reading, and his enthusiasm is contagious. Popular writers don't get sufficient credit from the literati for this kind of enthusiasm, but it is so important.
George wrote: "Anyone up for reading Lonesome Dove in a couple months? It's rather a long one at 900+ pgs. It won the Pulitzer for fiction and people tell me it's great."I could do it in June. It's on my list for this year and I have been looking forward to it.
George wrote: "Anyone up for reading Lonesome Dove in a couple months? It's rather a long one at 900+ pgs. It won the Pulitzer for fiction and people tell me it's great."I have it slated for April, but could happily hold it over for a month or two (or three...!) :o)
Aubrey wrote: "I'm looking to reread 2666 once I'm finished with Deronda, if anyone's interested."A little late, but I'd be in for a buddy read of 2666. It's been daunting me for years, sitting on my TBR shelf ;)
by curious coincidence I bought a copy of 2666 yesterday!but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY ;o) I can fit it in any time soon, as I am behind with my challenges, swamped with group reads and just consoled myself by allowing an 840 page chunkster (Darkmans) to queue-jump straight into my currently-reading!

Unfortunately, I only have about 150 pages left, but if you're interested in any of the works I mentioned in messages 1183 and 1187 of this board, I can aim in the appropriate direction once I'm finished.
I would like to read The Wreath by Sigrid Undset and The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck for my Century of Women challenge and wondered if anyone is interested in joining me in May or June? I might also nominate The Wreath for a group read for June, but it's lost in the past, so I don't know if I can count on that.
Thanks!

OK June is fine for me (might take me part of July too, pretty long), and I see Darren is interested also. I just checked for responses, so sorry for being slow to reply. I will message both of you to better ensure you got this. George
There was a group of people interested in buddy reading the Wreath at some point, if it doesn’t make it in the polls. I’d be up for it June or later!
Allie wrote: "I’d be up for both “The Wreath” and “Lonesome Dove” whenever anyone else wants to read it!!!"Ok, sounds great! I'll nominate The Wreath for June's New School Group Read, and if it doesn't win, we can buddy read in June instead.
Thanks all!
Marilyn wrote: "Lonesome Dove in June. Do we have enough readers to have Pink put on the schedule?"Yep, I'll pop it on the schedule now :)

I need to read "Hunchback" but I don't know how soon I can get to it. Maybe June...? When were you thinking?
