Hi Astrid. Since both months work for you too, how about starting in March? I plan to pick up a copy at my local library in the next week or so. I'm looking forward to the buddy read :)

Perhaps you, Tara and I could do a separate buddy read for something next month if you both are up for it?"
Oops, I didn't read all these new posts about East of Eden! I can do either March or May, though I slightly prefer March. So Holly, I'm up for either month, but if you also prefer March, and Astrid does too, we can do it then :)

Hi Brina :) I'd never heard of Love Medicine before, but I looked it up and it sounds interesting, so that might work for me next month. What are the others you are considering?

I don't think I can do East of Eden next month, but I have another Steinbeck I want to try anyway. I'll report back. :)
I am definitely reading Love Medicine next month with or without a buddy read so feel free to join me. East of Eden I have to wait for May because I have to clean my house for Passover and then celebrate it. Fun right. Earliest I can start is late April.
Brina and Adrian, I'd like to join you for The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Next week would work for me.
It seems like May is okay for everyone, so shouldn´t we settle on it for our "East of Eden" buddy read? Every month would be fine by me :)

Agreed! May for East of Eden sounds very good. I'm looking forward to it :)

Brina wrote: "Thank you, Nix. I'll start next Wednesday if that works. Pink can you please add?"Yep, so that's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd for March and East of Eden for May!

Brina, I'll check in with you about Love Medicine next month. Good luck with all the house cleaning and I hope you enjoy the holiday.

Thanks, Pink and Tara. I start cleaning my house in 3 weeks. I am not looking forward to it. But at least when the holiday starts for that week my house is clean. Tara-- Love Medicine by Louise Erdrich. I'm still looking for a buddy read but will probably read it myself regardless.

Great, then we're all set. :)
A bunch of us are planning on reading Anna Karenina in May, everyone is welcome to join. For those who are interested but don't have the time, a couple of people are also interested in reading this towards the end of the year, Nov/Dec, so it looks like there will be lots of buddy reading opportunity for this one! Here's the discussion threads for anyone who wants to take a look.

Is anybody interested in doing a buddy read of Madame Bovary any time before summer? Ideally March or May, as I'm doing Darconville's Cat in April and it's a long read. I've read the beginning of the book twice before and can't seem to not put it down!

But I don't plan my reading too far ahead and tend to mostly read based on my mood at the time...so I'll see how Anna K strikes me come May.
I may also jump in on Anna Karenina depending on my mood. It's also a book I've tried to read before and didn't enjoy. I do own a copy, though.

Psst Holly, I love your profile pic!
Brina, if you would like to plan a buddy read for All the King's Men, I am game. It would be May before I could fit it in, but anytime after April would work for me.
Late May please. I'm reading in the Anna Karenina group at the beginnings of May and hopefully a personal read of Lonesome Dove in mid June.
Okay late May or we could wait till June. I'm reading Anna K too. I'm jealous that you are reading Lonesome Dove for the first time. It is one of my absolute favorites.
I'm very excited about it as my summer long read. I guess the beginning of June works for me for All the Kings Men. Then we might get a small group together.

Yep will do, can you post a link so I know it's the right book I'm adding, as there's several different books with that title, thanks :)
Bat-Cat wrote: "Just throwing out this idea: Moby Dick read for June onward (summer on the ocean :-) and War & Peace around September?!?!?"I'd be game for Moby-Dick in the summer; March is too full up for me. I've also got a copy of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and would be up for that one any time from May on.
Moby-Dick; or, The Whale is our 2nd Quarter 2017 Long Read -- so April - June. Would love to have you join us then, but if not I understand.
Is this the one Brina. I read it earlier this year and really liked it.All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren
Kathy wrote: "Moby-Dick; or, The Whale is our 2nd Quarter 2017 Long Read -- so April - June. Would love to have you join us then, but if not I understand."I'd forgotten that! Maybe I can at least start it during that time frame. :)
Hope it fits your schedule!!! I imagine some will still be reading it into the summer. Join us when you can.
All the King's Men is actually on my March TBR. It got recommended to me after I really enjoyed It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis. If you end up enjoying All the King's Men I recommend you check out the other one as well.

Hi Tadiana,
I read Moby Dick last year - perhaps you are looking at an older comment of mine? - so I won't be reading it again this year.
Thanks so much for thinking of me though. ;-)
Lol, I'm new to this thread and obviously didn't notice the date on your comment. Sorry to cause confusion!
One of my Old and New Classic Challenges for this year is Monkey: A Journey to the West, and I have been asked if I wanted to Buddy Read it in April. (mid to the end)So if anyone else is interested then please get in touch
