I just finished chapter 1, and I can already tell where this is going.

(view spoiler)[ Sappy paranormal teen romance with hot sexy guy and awkward acting girl? Lol, I mean, "just-so-sexy look"? Pfft, really? I have a feeling that this book is going to be unintentionally hilarious with its romance.
Also, I'm kinda confused about what happened with her vision? How did everybody know she just had a vision? Like did she project it onto them or something? Or did she just sit there and stare at nothing, then scream at the very end? Cause she could've totally made an excuse for that.
And she better have gotten that janitor assistant guy arrested with her vision. Because that would have been a total waste of her powers.
Plus, if Heather (I think that's her name) ended up finding/saving that girl, wouldn't they all be thankful to her? Not calling her a freak?
Not a bad writing style, though. The grammar is well-written and I liked the quick jump into the action. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I'm calling it: it's the neighbor dude (but that just seems too easy.. maybe I'm being purposely directed to him because he's creepy and because of " his eyes"?).
Though it was extremely weird how easily Barry accepted Heather. Just "oh, you see visions, like movies, when you touch stuff? That's cool (and easily believable), it honestly makes you more attractive, so let me touch you and hold your hand, despite knowing you could be seeing visions of me right now."
And another thing that's weird: why doesn't she have any visions with him touching her? Pretty suspicious (or extremely convenient).
I honestly would love if Barry turned out to be a bad guy, that would be a cool twist to this book.

I really like how this book started out. It grabbed me from the get-go. I'm definitely intrigued and want to know more about Heather and her abilities.

Though this wasn't much of a mystery... Everything "twist" in this book was just so predictable to me... And insta-love between Barry and Heather frustrates me to no end. I feel like none of the characters have any true personality or development. Its making it so hard to care about them. (hide spoiler)]

lol! Yep. Yet another story with a socially-awkward teenage girl and a gorgeous guy -- not just a gorgeous guy, but a "very gorgeous guy" with disheveled sandy blond hair -- btw, it was his hair that had the "just-so-sexy look." ;)

I'm guessing this gorgeous guy, who is likely the most gorgeous guy in the school, if not the universe, is going to give all the gorgeous, cute, attractive, and "normal" girls in his school a pass and go for our troubled, friendless, socially-inept, (but hopefully endearing as the story progresses) heroine with special powers.

I was picturing her standing in the hallway and screaming hysterically before she came out of her vision, which would have caused quite a scene.

I thought the same thing too! If she saved that girl then she should be hailed as a hero by her classmates. I certainly hope we learn what became of that girl and the assistant janitor. I certainly hope she told someone -- and not just tried to keep her vision a secret out of embarrassment.

I agree. The action flows seamlessly -- I got caught up in the excitement right from the start.

Seriously! Heather has a hard enough time without having to feel ashamed of her visions. Her mother seems to think that these visions don't have real-world significance. But if that's they case, why would her mother not try to find her a new therapist asap?

Barry seems to be a really nice guy and I'm glad that Heather finally has someone she can be herself around and tell the truth to -- I'm also glad that we get some closure to April's murder -- but still...

I am a bit suspicious about Barry. Why does he use a "monotone voice" every time he talks about the details of Johnny's disappearance? It seems to be out of character.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I got suspicious of Barry when he kept talking about Johnny's disappearance in a monotone voice. And then he volunteered to be with her when she had her visions. And then he got all riled up when he learned that she had nightmares about Johnny.

Then they were all alone in the woods when Heather figured out where Johnny was buried. It could have been creepy, but by then Barry had already told Nicole. He wouldn't have done that if he had something to do with Johnny's disappearance... unless Nicole had something to do with it too. And now they are going to Nicole's uncle, the police officer, in another town. Maybe... they are not going to the police at all... Ooooh. I will be disappointed if my imagination turns out to be more lively than the actual story... ;)

...I think the neighbor guy would be too easy as a villain. And who's this Christoper guy? Barry's father?

My sentiments exactly! (see my comment 90 above -- that would just be too obvious). I'm only 78% finished and the crimes seem to be all wrapped up neatly (too neatly, I might add), so... maybe there still is a chance for an unexpected twist... (I can only hope).

But I have to say that the action was so intense that the past ten chapters just flew by -- and that's a nice feeling.

I liked the ending -- of course I want to find out more...

The action sections flowed very nicely -- it was suspenseful and exciting.

And it was really nice to experience how Heather learned to trust again, make friends again, and participate in life again. It was a feel-good experience for me.

The plot, however, lacked originality. She sees a ghost, tries to figure out what he is trying to tell her, figures out what he is trying to tell her, helps him move into the light... Sound familiar? It could have been an episode of Ghost Whisperer.

And, of course, the strange neighbor who acted weird from the moment they first saw him was the villain. A little too simplistic for my tastes.

Maybe for a young reader, it might be nice to have clear lines between good and evil -- and some may be happy to find out that Barry is a good guy (or is he? We still don't know what he's hiding in regards to his mother and he does say "I love you" a bit too prematurely... Oh, I may just be looking for intrigue when there is none there... sigh).

And the pure stupidity of Heather and Barry's not contacting the police the minute they learn that Ryan is in danger baffles and angers me beyond belief. Why don't they contact their detective friend that night? Why don't they tell the police when they are already there?! Because they are afraid of being caught? Huh? I thought they are beyond that, or above that...

This delay in contacting the detective is an unrealistic drawing out of the story -- more like a tool to prolong suspense than a natural flow of the story line. Much more realistic would have been that Mr. Barton, after finding out that his secret is out, skips town that night -- it makes no sense to kidnap Ryan now. He should have assumed that the kids would contact the police (because that's what they should have done). Or another possibility would have been that Mr. Barton attempts to shut Heather up... that night.

I'm mixed in my reaction to this book, because despite its negative points, this story certainly had some great pros -- most obviously Heather's positive personal development and the fast-paced action scenes.

Ha! Ditto that. All the points you mentioned above. I was asking myself why this thing was continuing at about the same point (see my message 93). But, naive as I am -- or just unjustifiably optimistic, I was still hoping for the unexpected twist ending. Sigh.
