"Listen the Birds" made as much sense as all of the other micro-stories. I.e, none.

"The Rabbet" was a pretty obvious pun, and I'm not sure there was a lot going on beyond the pun. "Rabbet" (also, rebate) is a carpentry term for a groove in the edge of a piece of wood, so a picture frame naturally has rabbets. So when the kid called a rabbit "rabbet", the rest of the story seemed ordained.
