JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments Week 5: Roll: 6 Spot:35

The Bride Wore Starlight (Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys, #3) by Lizbeth Selvig (Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys #3) by Lizbeth Selvig
Qualification: 3rd in a series
Finished: 2/14/16

Rating & Review: 4 stars
This was an enjoyable fast paced read that had some darkness to it due to Joely's accident and injuries as well as Alec's injuries from an explosion of an IED in Iraq. How they help each other was heartwarming. There were a lot of family and friends, a double wedding and lots of romance and love.
Not having read the first two books in the series I didn't feel lost since enough background information was given. I look forward to reading more books by Selvig - a new to me author.

Too Far Gone (SEAL Team 12, #6) by Marliss Melton
Book: Too Far Gone by Marliss Melton
Qualification: Military
Finished: 2/12
Rating: ★★★

Review: This one wasn't one of my favorites. It was well written but I just didn't connect with the main characters. The kidnapped children storyline wasn't very original. I'm actually not quite sure why it was just okay for me. I still like the series though and will read the next book.

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) | 1919 comments Catherine,

Did you decide to go with Angel Lane?

message 258: by Vi (new)

Vi | 624 comments I'm so much better today.. The surgery went ok and the recovery is so much better than I expected. I finished a book that i had started yesterday. I'm still finalising the book for this week. I started one #3 but it didn't really capture my interest. So I'm looking at the other #3s that i have. If everything else fails, I'll go with The Titan's Curse which will definitely be a fast read.

Review: I am really enjoying this series. I love small town stories. I love how the characters all work together. There is a certain dynamic between local people and newcomers. And...I love how chocolate and crafting and baking all are a part of the story.

Louise | 1600 comments I've updated everyone's books, I'm starting mine today so should be finished in time.

You have until Friday before midnight - we usually get to roll Thursday midnight Central Time
We can always use our pass if we have to.
You have 2 -3 days more to go but definitely had a rough week earlier.

Deadly Medicine
Book: Deadly Medicine by Kelly Moore
Qualification: Law Enforcement
Finished: 2/17/16
Rating: ★★★★★ 4 1/2

Review: I really enjoyed this book, the investigators of the baby killing portrayed their recollection of Genene Jones' crimes very well. Through the entire book I was aggrivated and flabberghasted that a woman who had children herself would murder innocent children for her own twisted enjoyment of being the one to fulfill "heroic measures". Not only was she a mother but she was bound by the Hippocratic oath to do no willful harm because of the fact that she was a nurse. I recommend this book to anyone who likes true crimes it is really an enjoyable read.

Week 5: Space 35
Illusion (Chronicles of Nick, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon - #5 in series
Finished: 19/2/16
Stars: 4

Review:
I love getting Nick's backstory! Seeing characters from the main Dark Hunter series pop in and out. Having more BBQ with Simi....
Seeing what made the Ambrose Malachi mouldy into the terrible thing he is now is such a great thing, I know Cherise dying was the tigger point but in all respects by what we've seen so far, Nick will not be the end of the world......but maybe Xav will be??

message 270: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 880 comments I'm guessing we will be in the 40's somewhere...so I'm going with a 4th in series.......

The Diamond Caper is what I'll be reading :) ready to start tomorrow :)

Vi | 624 comments Week 5: Roll: 6 Spot: 35 #3 in series

The Search (Eve Duncan, #3) by Iris Johansen

Book: The Search by Iris Johansen
Date Read: 18 Feb
Rating: ★★★
Review:
I started this series because I've heard great reviews about it. Sadly, the first two books didn't really captivate me enough the continue but I managed to enjoy this one. This can be read as a standalone if you don't really care about the characters' backstory. The suspense part was good but the romance part was weak.

I loved Sarah & Monty and their job (very heartbreaking) but it did leave a lot of threads unexplained. I will give this series a chance - will be picking up the next book

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) | 1919 comments I can't update what Louise already started so I just did a new post. As soon as we get the last review we will be ready. We aren't late for the roll we have until midnight tonight. We are usually just early.

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) | 1919 comments Catherine - if you get a chance will you put the date you finished on your review.
Krystal you put 4 1/2 for date finished which I assume is your rating not the date you finished. If you get a chance will you correct that.

Thanks Guys. Not sure the date is a have to have but since we have time I figured it can't hurt to have that.

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) | 1919 comments I'll keep checking for the last review so I can post our week 5 reviews. No use having Louise re-do the post again since she can't edit my post.

Thanks Danielle for stepping in. I'm home now writing two reviews I have due and then have a bunch of must do stuff.

If I'm not on when roll is made I'll pick my book sometime tomorrow morning.

Happy Reading all. Hoping for a good roll after Louise posts her review and Danielle updates the post.

Week 5: Spot 35
Taming McGruff (Once Upon A Romance, #3) by Laurie LeClair
Taming McGruff by Laurie LeClair
How It Fits: #3 Once in a Romance series.
Date Read: 19/02/16
Rating: 3☆
Review:

This was quite an enjoyable, if somewhat predictable read. I like how each book in the series centres around one central character, so it can be read as a stand alone but is linked to the others in the series so that you are familiar with the support cast so to speak. This story is centred around Priscilla and Griff and their happily ever after. Priscilla wants freedom from her mother and to make her mark on King's and earn the right to bear the King name. Griff wants revenge on the person that destroyed his father, Agnes King, Pricilka's mother. Priscilla and Griff fall in love but for Griff to geg his revenge it means betraying Priscilla. Needless to say, as this is a fairytale retelling they end up with thrir hapoy ever after.
