R7: "Seven Wonders of the Reading World" (2)

Finished: 25/3/15

Review:
This a good starter. It confused me a little at the start referring to a previous mission until I looked at other reviews and realised it was pointing you towards a prequel novella. I see why people are drawn to this series and I'll be continuing on!

Qualification: book 7 in a series
Finished: 3/24/16
Review and rating - 4 stars:
This is the seventh book in the Cricket Creek series and I've only read book 6, Wildflower Wedding, previously. Nice to be back in small town Cricket Creek, KY with another contemporary romance. This time music is at it's core but the other residents, most of which I've met before, are in and out of the stories. It was a quick and fun read but the closure wasn't the best and a few times I went, huh?
I do have to go back and start at book one to be able to pick up the flow and the missing pieces.

If you don't hear from me it's because being on the computer is hard when I'm like this. I'll catch up with everyone in a few days when I feel better and I'll pick my book then.

Outlander Outlander #1 By Diana Gabaldon
Qualification: 2009 List Page 2
Finished: 3/25/16
Rating: 3.5 Stars
This is the first Diana Gabaldon book that I have read and so far I liked it but I didn't love it. The book was rather slow and boring to start and confusing at times. I do like how the character and plot development grew better as the book went on though. All in all I think I will give the next book in this series a shot.

Week 10: Spot 75: #7 in Series

Agatha Raisin & the Wellspring of Death by M.C. Beaton
Date Read: 25/03/16
Rating: 3☆
How It Fits: #7 Agatha Raisin
Review:
This is the 7th installment of the Agatha Raisin mysteries and follows on shortly after the events in book #6. Agatha is approached by the boss of her former company to do some PR work for a bottled Water company that is coming to a neighbouring village. Initially refusing the offer she changes her mind when she stumbles across the body of the Chairman of the Parish council at the spring. Rather than joining forces Agatha and James stubbornness towardseach other lead them to investigate separately. There are hints in the book of James and Agatha re-uniting but Agatha's dalliance with the much younger Company Director, Guy, leaves James jealous and stubborn. We see more of the inner thoughts of both Agatha and James as they explore their feelings for each other, although sheer stubbornness keeps them apart. I enjoyed this book more than the last one and feel that the series is getting back on track.

@Joanne I hope you're feeling better soon, I came home from work on Wednesday with a bad head and nausea. Ended up sleeping for 10 hours straight through. I feel for you.
@Vi, once you've posted your review I'll link it to the tracking post.
@Catherine, do you want me put you down as a pre - arranged absence, RL sucks at times when it ears into reading time.

Book: A Finer End by Deborah Crombie
Date Read: 22 March 2016
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
A good installation. The supernatural elements in the book were interesting; not what usually happens in the Crombie book.
I liked the setup from the beginning. Kincaid and Gemma were not the main characters; the equal importance were given to all the characters. Kincaid and Gemma's relationship progress with some happening off the screen. I'm definitely picking up the next as I'm eager to see how they progress.

This is the third book in the Heart of the Rockies series and I've yet to read the first two books. Lots of adventures, secrets, beautiful scenery. Chemistry between Ruby and Sawyer but neither is looking for love and they both have walls built up due to their pasts. Nice happily ever after and the epilogue tied up the loose ends and gave nice closure.
I will definitely be reading the first two books in the series.

I've always been on teams that finished out the week by posting even if we hadn't won.

Book: Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews
Qualification: Title M
Finished: 4/01/16

Review: This is by far one of the best series I've ever read and I enjoy each and every book. This one was a little different and it sometimes felt like the author was writing for people who hadn't read the series so they wouldn't be lost. There was a lot happening in this book and Kate was separated from Curran for a great deal of the story. Still lots of action an lots of monsters. Can't wait for the next one!

Marrying Mister Perfect by Lizzie Shane
How It Fits: Title M
Date Read: 31/03/16
Rating: 4☆
Review:
This was an easy to read not quite fairytale romance. Jack and Louise have been best friends since high school and for the last four years have been living together, with Louise taking on the pseudo role of Wife and Mother without the benefits, after the death of Jack's wife. Louise has always held a flame for Jack however her feelings aren't reciprocated, or are they?
When Jack is given the opportunity to star in reality tv show "Marrying Mister Perfect " their relationship is put to the test, as Jack dates various women to find a wife and mother to his children. There is a little fun-poking at reality tv in the book, which highlights some of the realities of being on camera 24/7 and lives being taken over in the name of entertainment. The ending was a little predictable but it didn't mar the book. I will probably read the next in the series as I enjoyed the style of this book.

Most Wanted by Lisa Scottoline

Review: I absolutely loved this book, it was so twisted but the character and plot development was so good I didn't want to put it down. The story follows Christine a sperm donor recipient who's husband Marcus is infertile. When she is 2 months pregnant she learns that her donor Zachary Jeffcoat is arrested and charged with the Serial murders of 3 different nurses. However, the book does not go as you would expect because Christine ends up helping with Zachary's defense and from there it takes you on a winding road you could never be prepared for.

Review: I am loving this series. Aimée is such a character. I wish I had her deductive skills...she's a computer genius, who runs a computer security business. Each book in this series takes place in the span of a week....I realise this could be difficult to believe...because things do not always go to plan, a dsome cases can take months to solve....but Cara Black does an excellwnt job wrapping up each case quickly.
