Characterization

In "This Is How I Find Her" by Sara Polsky, characters are developed in many different ways. Characters can be developed through thoughts, dialogue, actions, relationships, and conflict. An example of this is the main character, Sophie. On page 58, Sophie is thinking, "Until I get to the hospital, I'm half convinced my mother somehow won't be there." - In this quote, Sophie reveals a lot about her true personality. This uncovers that she is a negative person, but also is concerned about the well-being of her mom. Overall, Sara Polsky develops Sophie's character to the reader through dialogue.
