I was going to ask about this, because I started

If you can't find it, at least you will still have access to your books through your account.

I am going to read

It was okay. I was going to read something else for this category but I wasn't into it. I saw someone else read it, and saw it was short, and it was really the right fluffy read for me right now. (And it was available at the library with no wait!)
I have to wait until Mid March for

- Read a brand new author to you

- Read a debut author

I read it for the same reason. And since I had just finished the emotionally draining group read, the fact that it was cheesey was good for me too at the time.

I started this yesterday morning and couldn't put it down until I was done. I don't know how you read this back to back with

Also -- Anna, what did you think of Symptoms of Being Human?

Wow, thats an impressive list of some emotionally heavy books.
I thought it was a really good and important book. My favorite part was Riley catching themself trying to place others into a gender category. It's natural, I've caught myself doing it before. I also loved that the gender assigned at birth was never obvious because it doesn't matter.
I thought her parents initial reaction was actually more of a symbol of how society at large deals with trying to understand a new term, by relating it to a term we already know. I also liked that it made it clear that this was just one of many variations that falls under the broad category of genderqueer.
I liked the description of the dial (or compass, I forget which) because at least for girls we are already allowed to freely present within a range, from wearing a dress and heels to pants and baggy shirts. And it is totally normal for different people to have different ranges they are comfortable in.

I only picked this book because of this challenge, but I liked it. The great-grand kids of Sherlock Holmes (female named Charlotte) and Dr. Watson (male named Jamie) end up at the same boarding school in Connecticut. Obviously there's a murder they need need to solve. It was well done.
*I just had to come back and edit the grammar errors in my post. Proof that I should not internet before coffee!

Day, what did you think of Crimson Bound?

Hey Brandi,
Crimson Bound was much more different than I thought it was going to be. For one, the I feel that the content was heavier than most YA books (murder, seduction, self-loathing, etc), but I didn't mind that. I read Hodge's Cruel Beauty and loved it. I enjoyed reading her books because there's something about her writing that really digs into me emotionally, makes me really think. She has such a way with words...but overall I think I enjoyed the characters and their development than I did with the plot. Sometimes I get confused with the visuals and the mythology but that's minor. I think the real heart of the book is the characters, I actually liked Eric more than the main character because he's such a good villain. I can keep going haha.

Book #8 (debut novel)

Starting The Scorpio Races now, really looking forward to it!

Really loved it.
I thought I would finish each category this time easy. I'm hoping to complete 6 now!

New in Feb:

New in March:

Sorta forgot to keep updating...oops. Now to decide between a gift and a rec to finish the challenge.

Finished book 9 (oh my, I may actually complete a challenge!)

Recommended by YA-MA. It was everything that was promised!

Just finished

Also, I wasn't a huge fan of this book in particular but I heard the second one is better. For anybody who has read the series, should I give the second one a try?

Updated post #8

What I don't really read on my own or know much about is thriller, horror, mystery and such; so if someone could recommend a good book from those genres it would be great! But anything is welcome, of course. Thank you!

Thanks Brandi! I think I'll give the second one a shot after the challenge :)

Read the prequels imo as well. There is an omni of them now. Explains some things that are touched on in 1 and later.

Try this for horror. Its not grotesque like some in the genre can be, and it has an interesting premise that starts it off. The whole first third of the book has you guessing (in a good way) what is going on)

If you didn't read this with the group, it is a great suspenseful book.

Have you read the Mara Dyer books? Very suspenceful/mysterious.
