Lynette White (lynettewhite) | 306 comments Glenda and Russell: Thank you for sharing that. A couple of things to learn there.

Shea: I have no idea why either. Today I got another one that stated it was permanent failure. Yet you got my votes that I posted via Goodreads. But than again I am the one who had to have my 6 and 8 year old granddaughters teach me how to use my new smartphone. I have pretty much given up on ever understanding technology now days.

Mirta: I did find the follow link on a couple of the people in this group that I was already following. In the process of updating that. Thank you for the info.

Shae Hamrick | 283 comments Ok, I have all the votes in but Fred's. I'll give him so more time and post the results Sunday afternoon along with the next challenge.

Shelly Heskett | 175 comments Glenda, Thank you for admitting that Windows has left some of us lacking in understanding. Yours was the phone, I guess. Every thing we do now is a learning experience it seems, without an 8-year-old tutor we are lost

. I'm having trouble with punctuation. In newspaper we string the 5 "W's" along, separated by enugh commas so the reader can keep up, The metro papers can afford university trained editors, but country papers get by with retired teachers and preacher's wives. and are grateful for for them.

Cora, you are exactly right about editors. One of my West Texas editors was being bawled out by a subscriber and the editor said,

"Only two of us knows that's a mistake and only one of us cares. "

Todd Folstad | 22 comments Do we have a leader and a set of story parameters for February yet? I've got a bit of time today and I'd like to get a jump just in case February gets wild fast and I run out of time again. There is a major snow storm forecasted for February 1st and I know that work will get crazy for a few days after that . . .

message 166: by Shae (new)

Shae Hamrick | 283 comments I hear that about work getting crazy after a snow storm.

I will post the new parameters shortly then....

and it was Professor Plumb in the Study with the Lead Pipe.

Too late for a story this month but will check you out next month. I've been busy getting my latest novel published which is now available at Amazon. Mrs. Obdoddy=Hometown Patriot, a humorous mystery set during WWII.
Will try to contribute next month. Hope all are well and busy writing. Elaine Faber

Congrats to my talented fellow writers for a job well done.

Shelly: "Glenda, Thank you for admitting that Windows has left some of us lacking in understanding... or was it Lynette?"
Ya! I wondered "Where did THAT come from?" But the "who done it" theme that followed was very appropriate.

February Contest at Goodreads: Plumbs, Pipes and Mystery
Highlights: a plum, a library with books, and a lead pipe.
Theme: mystery
Setting – any
Plot – your choice

Randall Congratulations to the winners!

message 179: by Randall (new)

Randall By plumbs are we talking about the fishing term?

message 180: by Randall (new)

Randall Oh wait, I see you spell it with a "b" in one spot and without it in another, as the fruit.

message 181: by Holly (new)

Holly Jones | 14 comments Congratulations to all the winners. I think each story deserved it :)

message 182: by Shae (new)

Shae Hamrick | 283 comments Wow, I hadn't noticed I had done that ... (spelled it differently). Opps, and now i can't change the title without messing up the link. So pick a plum or plumb and have fun... LOL.

Mirta Oliva (mirtaoliva) | 418 comments Congratulations to all winners! Now, let's work on the February story,

Randall from Mirta: I believe the highlights include a plum (the fruit) and a lead plumb (lead plumbing pipe). Just in case, in my fake (c) story, I had the bad guy steal the plum, hit the iPad with a (lead) pipe - all the while the plum getting stuck in his windpipe. LOL

message 185: by Randall (new)

Randall Shae already clarified for me, She meant plum but you can include a plum OR a plumb in the story.

message 186: by Mirta (new)

Mirta Oliva (mirtaoliva) | 418 comments Thanks, Randall. While the title had plumb instead of plum, the THREE highlights consist of:
Highlights: a plum, a library with books, and a lead pipe. (I guess it is a lead plumb pipe as used by plumbers), OR
The fruit, the library with books and the lead pipe.
I'll go that route, I guess...

message 187: by Todd (new)

Todd Folstad | 22 comments Congrats to all the winners this month and with some time (hopefully) in February, I'm coming for y'all!!! hehehehe
