Thanks for the suggestions. They're indeed very suitable, but I think the best for her are Tiffany, Natalie, Michelle and Serena. Now I'm confused which name to take.
Lila, Martha, Dylan, Tyler, Alex, Alexandra, Micki, Nicki, JJ, Viv, Liv, Natalie, Maddie, Gretchen, Greta, Hannah, Kiana, ext.
Two female characters in a fantasy setting, a short story I'm writing, where a guy falls for one and friendzones the other. The elf girl is, at the moment, Catnir, while the other one - the warrior woman - is Gwende, but I'm thinking... maybe I should switch those names? Which sounds more appropriate to which?
The elf is the daughter of a minor noble, and kinda just... boring. But she's pretty, and that's what matters most in these kinds of stories, right? Right.
The human woman is leader of the shield sisters, a band of travelling women who ride horses and fight orcs and all that.
I figure, Catnir is more a house pet kind of name, and therefore more suitable for the reclusive, but pretty, daughter of a noble who is tired of her "but I want the PERFECT boyfriend" attitude, while Gwende, while a pretty name too, is a bit more... well, earthy.
The guy is smitten with the elf girl, but the elf girl's maid isn't delivering her 'fan mail'... at least from the MMC, Denos. Because she's high class elf and he's warrior human and there's no racism like fantasy racism...
I also need names for the elf-maid, and the five other sisters.
And also a diplomat who tried to broker a peace treaty with the orcs across the river, and that went about as well as one could expect (NEVER send an elf to negotiate peace with orcs, period. Especially if you're elves yourselves (I swear, that was spontaneous!)).
Gwende reminds me of Gwendolyn which sounds elegant to me personally and in turn reminds me of Galadriel so that could work for an elf there. Catnir reminds me of Katniss and so would work for a 'strong earthy' female name. (Unless the comparison is a little too on the nose in case you could leave it as you had it, I suggest going with your gut.)As for female names heres a few off the top of my head.
Ifen
Iona or Lona
Arraine
Milasse
Zorri
Kennar
Taegen
Vatenna
For diplomats:
Diomme
Arrhan
Alfeir
Benvot
Hope I helped a bit.

Yeah, Gwende does sound like Gwendolyn, this one's surname is Waeton, so Gwende Waeton I think sounds much more suitable together than Catnir Waeton. Catnir's surname is Bluedive, I think. Her real name could be Gwendolyn and she just prefers Gwende, less 'pretty and/or prissy' but still feminine, I guess?
I will probably change the elf girl to something else though.
Those other names all sound like I could use them. Thank you.
Hi, I'm after a name for a young woman who's role goes like this: If you're able to find her, you can get an alien bug implanted into your neck that gives you mental powers, primarily that of reading minds and hiding attention to yourself, so that essentially you're invisible.
You can rake in a fortune at various games of deception (poker, for one, or street cons for another).
This woman has the queen bug, naturally. The queen is able to find any of her 'subjects' through a constant link. Something like queen ants or queen bees, I'm not 100% how that stuff works, but hive mind is a term I'm familiar with, it's something that insects tend to have, though I definitely need to do some research into the mechanics at work.
The two security guards and the enforcer, the guy who collects debts, need names too. Though they don't strictly have to be all male. Or human. It's set in the modern world, after an apocalypse brought about monsters and superhumans, so that gives some context.
The central character is Jess, and she wants out of the slums by any means necessary. Actual, legitimate mind-reading at poker is her big ticket. But there's always a catch, a debt due, and that's where the bounty hunter comes into play.
