Julesy | 1412 comments I am 2 books shy of meeting my goal of 80 books. I am very satisfied with my progress. I do not plan on changing my goal and perhaps I will increase it in 2017.

I've increased a bit my goal as I've already reached it. I don't know if I'll increase it again if I reach it.

Am now 79/80 in my challenge, six books ahead of schedule. Doubt I'll get to 90 by end of the month, but 85 is certainly looking plausible. :-)

message 155: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8981 comments I completed my challenge! I'm currently at 117/110 or 106%. I have about 9 books I still want to read in December so this should be one of my higher yearly totals.

I've increased again my goal to 222, and I think it's going to be a feasible goal (219 / 222 at this moment). I believe I'll keep it that way.

message 159: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 88 comments I met my goal. I'm at 125/100. I should get a few more read before the end of the year.

message 160: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 108 comments Last year my goal was 52, this year was 104 (which I just finished) and next year will be 156. I'll need to read faster in 2017!!!

message 161: by Kimberly (last edited Dec 03, 2016 01:54PM) (new)

Kimberly | 678 comments Well, I don't think I'll make my original goal. I'm at 173/215, or 25 books behind schedule. I just never caught up...too busy doing other things. Oh well. I'll just adjust my numbers after I see what I'm planning to read this month. :) I figured since I read 215 last year I could do it again this year. Must of had smaller books last year. ;) :)

Congratulations to all who've reached their goal! :) :) :)

message 162: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Corfield (tastypooh) Congratulations to you all for such dedication, but since when did reading require a business model? Some of the most memorable books I've read have stayed with me because they've been savored. Reading is like eating: both require digestion. If there's no resting between courses you'll get s stomach ache! (Just an observation and I mean no offence to your passion for books.) ;)

message 163: by Julesy (new)

Julesy | 1412 comments I don't see setting reading goals as requiring a business model but more like an addiction. Just like food and eating, you crave more and more. I've been addicted to reading since a young girl and always want to read more than I possbly can.

message 164: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 440 comments I just finished my 176 book. I had put myself down for 175. So, it looks like I made it! I probably will get at least two more before the end of the year. Maybe more. Depends on how crazy the kiddos are at school...what with that whole Santa thing....and, how tired I am at the end of the day.

Yeah, for me, it is an addiction. The numbers/goals are there for me to just see how I do...not a finish line. I also like to donate a monetary amount per book to my library. Generally it is a $1 a book...and, I pay as I go. The goal is also kind of a goal for my contribution.

message 166: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Corfield (tastypooh) Then it appears reading is a many and varied and wonderful thing.

Challenge met! Currently 81/80 -- guess we'll see if I can get to 85 now.

Julesy | 1412 comments Congratulations, Heather! You have enough time to try to make it to 85!

message 169: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments 58/55 which is half of what I read last year but I think I enjoyed them more by setting a lower goal. ;)

Good job, Karen!

Thanks, Marisa!

Julesy - Thanks, but maybe not with my schedule lately. Lots of holiday hours this month. By the time I get home at night, I can barely make it through one chapter. :-\

message 173: by Julesy (new)

Julesy | 1412 comments Heather, I know what you mean. I've been reading the same books all month. Even if I have the time go read, I'm not mentally able due to holiday stress.

message 174: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Wildflower | 9 comments I have reached my goal with 54/50 read. I have a lot of almost finished books, will probably make it to 60-65 before new year.
Next year I will go for 150.

Good job, Charlotte, and good luck finishing the rest of those books before year's end! '-)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I finally set my goal at 55 books, last year I read 62. This year I may actually pass 100 as I am currently reading books 99, 100 and 101.

message 180: by Marisa, Cozy Mysteries Assistant Moderator (new)

Marisa (moretta) | 4153 comments Mod

message 182: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments Finished 99 now working on book 100, may get to 102 this year.

message 183: by Kellene (new)

Kellene | 167 comments Met my 2nd goal of 100 today (hit the 50 goal in June). I'll finish a couple more before the year ends, but happy to complete this challenge since I won't finish the others I undertook for the year.

message 184: by Julesy (new)

Julesy | 1412 comments Kudos to Gary, Heather and Kellene for meeting/surpassing your goal!

Finished the year with 84/80 -- could not manage to sneak in one more as hoped over the holidays as I ended up working a couple extra shifts in addition to already increased hours. Ah, well . . . on to 2017!

message 187: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I actually ended up with 104 for last year.

message 189: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I finished #90 on the 31st.

message 190: by Paula (new)

Paula Adams (goodreadscompadams57) | 44987 comments I finished #100 on 12/29 which was my goal.

message 191: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 678 comments I did not reach my original goal of 215 (which was how many I read in 2015), but I made it to 190. I did read several larger books this year, including The Brothers Karamazov, Anna Karenina, and Moby-Dick; or, The Whale, so that may be why I read fewer this year. Oh well, I'm still happy with how many I did read. :) Congratulations to all who read even 1 book in 2016! :) :) :)

This is why I would prefer pages read in a year. That seems a lot more realistic.
