message 101: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments I've committed to only 25 which for me is a bit strange because other years I've read over 100 but I'm taking the pressure off this year. This year I seem to have too many distractions.

That was why I drop my goal from 60 last year to 30 then 35 this year. I have some longer works I want to tackle this year, like finishing off The Complete Sherlock Holmes, making another major dent in The Wheel of Time Series.

message 103: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (she2beautiful) | 13659 comments I set my goal at 60 this year and was prepared to bring it down if necessary. But then I ended up quitting my job so now I'm 7 novels ahead of where I even need to be. I'm trying to do a bunch of challenges as will so hopefully I can fit it all in this year but I don't know how well I'll be able to do. But that sure doesn't mean I'm going to give up.

Must have been a real sucky job.

message 105: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 1887 comments I'm at 32%, 5 books ahead of schedule - and I have two more done that I haven't posted yet, so I have lots of elbow room. Too soon to think of upping my goal, tho.

I adored my co-workers and what I was doing (I was a barista, I enjoy making coffee) but my managers were terrible. Genuinely the most clueless people on how to run a cafe I have ever worked with in my life.

message 107: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments Finished book 24 last night.

message 108: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 440 comments Decided to up my challenge since I am still consistently way ahead.

Have managed to stay one book ahead most of the month, but that may change by next week, as I have just started a 400-page classic for another group, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë. I liked Agnes Grey, which seemed to go pretty fast, but so far it's been slow going. Here's hoping it picks up, and that I can devote a large chunk of time to it this weekend, seeing as I have three days off.

message 110: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments Now working on my 28th book so far this year. 17 ahead of schedule. I think I may up my goal to 40.

message 111: by Gary (last edited Apr 21, 2016 01:04PM) (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments Updated goal to 45 instead. I'm still 14 ahead of schedule.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27555 comments Mod
Currently 27/80, one book ahead -- I thought for sure I would fall behind while reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, so am very happy to still be on track.

message 113: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I have read 32 books so far this year. My original goal this year was 30, past that now. Upped it to 35, then recently to 45. Currently 17 ahead of schedule. I have cleared some shorter works out of my TBR which has helped. Longer works on ghe horizon.

message 114: by Alana (new)

Alana (alanafarrell) | 6 comments I just surpassed my goal of 36 books by one (25 books ahead of schedule). I have upped my goal to 60 and am still 17 books ahead of schedule.

message 115: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments 33/100, on track!

message 116: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 678 comments As of today, I've read 62/215. I'm still behind, but I figure I still got lots of time to catch up. :)

message 117: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments Have read 39 of the current 45 books goal and am about 1/4 of the way through book 40. 22 books ahead of schedule. Looks like I will be increasing the goal again.

message 118: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27555 comments Mod
I am currently 34/80, two books ahead.

message 119: by Kim (new)

Kim Dixon | 19 comments I've set mine to 104. There's 52 weeks in a year, so that equals 2 a week. It's a big increase compared to my goal of 20 last year, which I surpassed easily. I've read 54 so far, and am almost done with #55. With college starting in a few days, my reading time will probably decresse, but I am far enough ahead that I think I can meet my goal.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27555 comments Mod
I can't believe I am currently five books ahead, 41/80. I hope this momentum continues through the summer. If last year is any indication, I'm going to need a bit of a cushion come fall/winter (through the holidays).

message 121: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8981 comments I'm 9 books ahead right now! 59/110. Doing good overall, am just feeling a bit behind in my June challenge right now.

message 122: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I had upped my goal to 40 from 30 and then upped it again to 45, but now I am at 43 books read and actively reading books 44 and 45. So should I up my goal again?

message 123: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27555 comments Mod
If you've maxed your goal twice already, then yes -- I think you might want to up it again, and maybe go bigger this time. '-)

message 124: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I upped it to 55, last year the goal was 60. I do have a few longer works I want to tackle yet this year.

message 125: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (kk4books) | 1 comments I set up my challenge for 40 books and so far have read 23 so we will see what happens.

message 126: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments 47/100, 2 ahead!

message 127: by Kellene (new)

Kellene | 167 comments Well, I have met my goal for the year, so I guess I'll raise it to 100. 52 completed...

message 128: by Mark (new)

Mark Baker (carstairs38) | 1065 comments My official goal for the year was 100 books. I'm at 74 for the year already, so I'm thinking I'm going to have to raise it very quickly.

message 129: by Karen M (last edited Jun 20, 2016 02:06PM) (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments Well, I'm 18 out of 25 and really not ready to increase my goal yet. I'm reading a 750 pager so I think that's one of the reasons I'm reluctant to increase my goal right now. I gave myself a goal that was 1/4 of my goal last year and it has taken the pressure off me but maybe too much since I feel kind of indifferent as to how many books I read this year. Good thing I'm reading a Tom Clancy that is really good.

message 130: by Kim (new)

Kim Dixon | 19 comments I'm counting the books that are required reading for one of my summer class, so I'm up to 63/104 or 15 ahead of schedule. At this rate, I should make my goal with ease

I'm 127/200, 34 ahead of schedule, a nice pillow for summer, when I have less time for reading.

Keep in mind that I usually read cozy-length novels or novellas, no classics like you ;-)

Hey, I've only read four or five classics so far this year. '-D

message 137: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments 46 read, goal 55, 20 ahead of schedule.

message 138: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

June 30th total: 44/80, five books ahead.

Which includes one 600-pager, five classics, a book of poetry and a journal/autobiography (most of which have been applied to the Ultimate Reading Challenge).

message 139: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments Now at 47 read and still 20 ahead of schedule. Some shorter works in that total will be balanced by some longer works.

message 140: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments 53/100, 4 ahead!

message 141: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8981 comments 64/110, holding steady at 10 ahead!

message 142: by Caren (new)

Caren (ckrich) | 53 comments 39/52! Better than expected.

message 143: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments So, I forced myself to increase my goal to 35 since I am now at 21 read. I'm still not in my normal reading groove but at least this past week I've been reading so maybe the worst is over. I finished one book and read two others in the past week which is more my normal. We'll see. :)

message 144: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I have finished 50 of 55 and am now 22 ahead of schedule. Book 51 is about 80 pages from completion and another book is close behind. I expect by Sunday I will be done with books 51 and 52.

I have 3 books left in this month's mini challenge after I finish book 51....all this math is giving me a headache. :)

message 145: by Gary (last edited Jul 21, 2016 10:07AM) (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments I am currently reading book 55 so I will meet my goal this month.

message 146: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 2274 comments Finished book 55. I wonder if I should readjust my goal again?

message 147: by Heather L , Cozy Mysteries Moderator (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27555 comments Mod
I am 51/80, still five books ahead of my goal. I am also 6/10 (one ahead) in my classics challenge for another group, and which is a sub-goal in the Goodreads Challenge.

message 148: by Linda (new)

Linda (rudylkr) | 8981 comments Looks like its been a while since we've checked in. Just caught sight of my challenge and I'm 15 books ahead of schedule!! Currently at 107/110 and still have a ton of books I want to get to by the end of the year including around 12 Christmas books. I think I'll even meet my secondary goal of 120 books with ease this year.

message 149: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 1436 comments I'm 50/55 and reading #51. (Don't know why I'm so happy about that since last year I was at 90 something, LOL!)

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27555 comments Mod
I am currently 73/100 (almost done with number 74). I'm five books ahead of schedule, so looks like I may actually exceed my goal.
