Welcome to our reading of The Dragon's Path. I absolutely loved the Long Price quartet series, so I am excited for this as well!

Feel free to chime in if you arejoining us...

Nick (NickMames) | 3 comments I started this a few days ago. I'm nearly 200 pages in and absolutely love it. I haven't been this excited about a series in a little while.

message 3: by Helen (new)

Helen | 1 comments At the risk of echoing Maggie, I loved the other series too and an looking forward to this one. Albeit, after Malazan...

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments I'm going to be starting this one next week.

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments I actually started listening to this while I was at work today. So far I like it. It took quite a while to introduce all of the characters but now I think the story is picking up. I made it to chapter 9 today.

message 6: by John (new)

John | 6 comments I got a head start on this series after Christmas, and am already half way through book 4, so I'm going to apologize in advance for anything I say that may run into the later books. This story did take a little while in introducing all of the characters, but looking backwards from the later books, I am really glad that Mr. Abraham took so much time with each of these characters.

I felt that way too, that there was a lot of set-up, but that it was important. Really like all these characters.

message 8: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 212 comments I'm up-to-date on this series. You are right there was a lot of set-up - I remember in particular getting confused by ALL the races. However, it seems like with both of the Abraham series, every book gets better for me, as I get to know the characters. (And I didn't hate the first book at all - I just loved subsequent ones more.)

message 9: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (tnbooklover) I'm going to be starting this later in the month. I'm really excited about it. I too loved The Long Price one and have heard such good things about this one. Is anyone doing audio?

message 10: by Christina (new)

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments I'm listening to this in audio and that narration is good.

message 11: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (tnbooklover) Oh great. I think I'm going to go that way too.

message 12: by Christina (new)

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments Alright, I just finished the book today and I really enjoyed it. I think I might get the next book very soon. Where is everyone else with this one?

message 13: by Nick (new)

Nick (NickMames) | 3 comments I finished the other day. I really enjoyed it, and I have a good feeling the next will be better. I wish more would happen with wester, I started getting tired of hearing of his dead family every chapter.

message 14: by Christina (new)

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments I didn't think there were that many references to his dread family. I do remember thinking that the one outburst at Cithrin concerning them was a bit odd and out of character for him. I still wonder what is going on in his head when it comes to Cithrin as well. Not sure if it's romantic or more father/daughter.

Chris (chrisclpool) | 6 comments I only joined this group yesterday so just started reading this book, am a few chapters in, and having a hard time imagining what the different races look like the descriptions so far have not been to good

message 16: by Margret (new)

Margret It takes a while for this one to really get exciting but I've been really into it since about halfway thru the book. Lots of background info but I think it's worth it.

message 17: by Chris (new)

Chris (chrisclpool) | 6 comments Yeah am enjoying it so far am about 40% of the way through should have it read in another 4 days has anyone moved onto book 2 yet ?

message 18: by Christina (new)

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 70 comments I haven't moved on to book 2 yet. I started reading The Emperor's Blades (Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne, #1) by Brian Staveley since I'm thinking others will be working on the second book next month.

For the Dragon's Path, I do agree that it was hard to visualize the different races, but this wasn't a sticking point for me. I think I was confused for probably the first 40% of the book with the politics then it started to click.

message 19: by Chris (new)

Chris (chrisclpool) | 6 comments hi Christina. the unhewn throne is a good series so far the third book comes out in March , book two is a lot better than book one if I remember right, was awhile back I read them

message 20: by Nick (new)

Nick (NickMames) | 3 comments I've been interested in starting that series. It seems really interesting.

message 21: by Vera (new)

Vera M. | 37 comments I just started this. So far the beginning is a lot to take in. All the races and characters and jumping around from points of view. The story itself is merging together with the different points of view. Liking it so far, even though it is a bit slow to get into and still at a point where Im trying to grasp all the politics, world, characters.

message 22: by Helen (new)

Helen | 1 comments I've literally just started, there are spiders. Eek.

message 23: by Maggie, The Malazan Queen of Chaos (new)

Maggie K | 1209 comments Mod
Spiders! I finished today....made it within the month anyway! Everyone is going off in very different directions!

message 24: by Helen (new)

Helen | 1 comments I hate spiders but the book is shaping up well.
