Im looking for a book that I believe had a short story in it about time travel. The participants of time travel had to be put to sleep during travel. A family takes all necessary precautions for sleep while the young boy pretends to take the meds to be put to sleep and goes through the time travel. Something goes horribly wrong. I think the boy ended up stuck in a stupor, aged with white hair and white non seeing eyes.

This sounds a little like one of the characters in Katherine Applegate's Remnants series, he is awake during g the time travel, and ends up (I think) with white hair and (I know) messed up in the head.
