The End?
Well, I'm not in a normal public school either. It's half normal, half art school. Basically the only difference is that there are more art, music, ect. classes to choose from along with normal classes, and the fact that everybody is plain weird. We have people who dress like it's Halloween everyday, and other weird people. It's also the fact that my school has all different kind of races and people. There's people from India, Africa, China, Japan, and more along with people that blind or in a wheel chair and more.
So what I'm basically saying is that, I don't know what a 'normal' high school is like (like the ones in books). But I'm not complaining. Because we're creative and open to different types of people and trying to be eco-friendly. What more can you want?

And that's perfectly fine. People have a right to what they think.....Okay, I'm going to shut up now.
Yah, I like my school....though I still wish it was a little more eco-friendly, if you know what I mean.
Yeah. Do you think that we, could write something of a petition or something to help schols be more eco friendly?
Good point. If 2012 was a real threat, the government(s) would be all sercetive about it. They surely wouldn't let a movie be made about it.
Nice Analogy (right word?) :)
True, but still I would think that knowing would be better than letting the public go on unaware. It would leave us quite unprepared

Yah, I think that's the right word.
But they still could do it. There was this one video we watched in 7th grade science. It was called Supervolcano (cheesy name, yes, but it's still very good). And it's about Yellowstone, and its make in a fake-documentary style. Anyway, its in the view on these geologists that work at Yellowstone. You know how Yellostone is like a big volcano waiting to blow, so these geologists find out that Yellowstone it likely to blow and they announce it, but the government tells them that they need to basically lie and say it's not going to blow, because the highways were clogging up and fights were breaking out and stuff. They still evacuated areas close to Yellowstone, but other than that.....Sorry to get into a long winded explaination, but I just thought that I would say that to prove my point.

who is this foolish guy who says the world will end!! as it is living from trillions of years how it will become its end!!.it will continue for more crores of years.-
I don't think the world will really end. Live on earth could end sometime in the future, but the whole world is not going to end until the sun dies.
Thanks, Violet. But with this in mind, are there really limits to how the Earth dies, like "natural" or "human"?
Good, question....I have to think about this one....
I guess the answer would be no...I think. I guess it depends on how you define "the end of the world." And how you define the causes that create "the end of the world."

I agree with you Lana (Except the Asteroid...I just don't think it will end). I learned why Doomsters think that the world is going to end is because one of old Indian calender ends. I wonder how they connect the end of the calender to the end of the world.
It's the Mayan calendar. The Mayans created correct calendars thousands and thousands of year ago. Now they ended up killing themselves (overpopulation and degration of environment...sound familiar?). But that's not what is freaking people out. It's because their calendars were so correct, they believe that just because it so happens to stop on Dec. 12, 2012, means that the world will end.
There's also other factors like the fact that the sun lines up with the center of the Milky Way, and this future seer (that based on some people's interpretation has predicted things like WWII and 9/11) says that the end of days COULD be in 2012 (there's something about a choice or something like that...).
Either way this whole thing is based on what people believe. If you believe that because the Mayan calendar ends (and not that they maybe got tired of doing it), the sun alines with the center of the Milky Way (whatever that means....), and that this past and vague future seer says the world's going to end, it may end. But it probably won't.

When you say it that way, does that mean a possible ending for the Earth may involve a massive alteration in outer space?
I don't know. I'm not an expert on anything. It could happen. It could not. The future is unknown.
I personally think everyone who actually believes that is just being stupid. The world will not end on a certain day; it will happen when the sun explodes. Which also won't happen all of a sudden.
Techincally, the sun won't 'explode.' It will expand to first burn the Earth then engulf it...but that's doesn't really. We'll be LONG gone before that happens.
How will it 'explode'? If some thing explodes, it requires energy, but the sun does not have that type of energy. The sun is wearing down and loosing energy over all these years, just like every thing else in the universe. Its just a law of nature.
It's because of the type of star our sun is. It won't go supernova on us, but when it is near the end of its life, it starts to expand because its angrily eating up the last of its hydrogen fuel and its core is shinking and the star is cooling and expanding. It will expand to swallow all the inner planets, then it implode when it runs out of food and become a white dwarf star. Thus the sun 'explodes.' But that will happen in about 1 billion years.
Sorry, I'm not very familiar with the Mayans, but you were saying how they created this calender. I knew that, but did they figure out all the dates and everything? Sorry, if that didn't make sense! I mean, what do you mean their calender has turned out to be so accurate? How so?
I'm not sure if they calculated out the exacte dates or not...my guess is that people today translated their calender to the standered calender of today...but I'm not sure. You could look it up.
I think they were so accurate in their calendars because of the fact that they were great astronomers and they were able to base everything on Moon and planet cycles.
Remember, I don't pretend to know EVERYTHING about the Mayans. I'm basically tell you all I've learned from past history classes and this special on the history channel about 2012. Sorry if I seem like I know it all. Don't mean to sound like that...

If the calendar was translated, then there is a chance that most of what we currently have may be completely or partially inaccurate.
Well everything that we use to messure time (including calendars and hours), along with other things like language, are all based upon a common agreement. If the whole agrees it is true, then it is true. How do we know something like those things are right or wrong? We think that based upon common agreement that certain things are right, but what if they are really wrong?...okay, I'm getting theological here, meaning that I could go on and on...but I won't. At least not now when I'm tired and want to go to bed.
To be honest, I'm not sure if I believe the whole accurate Aztec Calender (i'm sure that it's right and accurate), but I am a bit scared for the upcoming year 2012.
Why? Don't mean to be rude or anything...but in my opinion 2012 is gonna be about as dangerous than any other year. There's no proof that 2012 will be any different (from what I've found). Yes, solar activity is up, Mayans have the end of their calender in that year, and the sun alines with the center of the galaxy (whatever that's means...). There's more, like increased hurrican ativity, droughts, floods, extreme hot weather, extreme storms (all probably caused by climate change), and more, but ALL of that's happening right now, and people don't think the world's going to end now. I'm sorry, but I'm not at all scared about 2012....but that's just my opinion.

Like Violet said, things will be happening in the year of 1012, but that does not mean the world is coming to the end.
Kaitie♥, technology or not anything that has been made by mankind has always had some type of flaw. So in the case of the Aztec calendar, there's bound to be somthing misplaced or missing, if anything at all. I have nothing against the Aztecs or calendar they created but they are as
human
as we are.
That is a good point, Psyc94. Humans aren't perfect...so possibly the Mayans might've had some flaw in their calendar...and/or possibly they just misplaced their calendar that continued on from Dec. 21, 2012. They might've made it, we just don't know where it is. So, it might not have been the end of the world where they stopped, just the end of the calendar. Another reason why I think this 2012 is just not something to worry about.

Just curious, not calling you out or anything N.S.A, but are you against homosexuals?
I'm personally fine with it though it's not what I would choose for myself :) our school openly accepts it though there are somepeople that do not
