...each participant will be able to create two new years resolutions to bring to their team. Each team will then read books which fit their teams new years resolutions.

- Finish series I've already started
- Finish review pile (netgalley etc)

message 3: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Checking in! :)
Hi Christina!

Everyone, Here are my resolutions:
- Read contemporary standalones
- Read a book from an author I haven't read from yet

message 4: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments That's some good resolutions! I love contemporary standalones hehe

message 5: by Leah (new)

Leah Marrin (literarylair) | 8 comments Hey everyone! Checking in!

My resolutions are:
1) Read a graphic novel and/or writing from a medium other than standard novel form
2) Read classic novels

message 6: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Hiya Leah
I don't think graphic novels will be accepted for the challenge (for points) but of course you can still read them. I'll add the Classics one to our resolutions :)

message 7: by Manveer (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) Hey guys! Checking in :)

Alright, so the resolutions are here. I haven't built my 2016 to read shelf yet, but well.
1) Try new and different genres. (I've been reading books belonging to only certain selective genres during the past year or so)
2) Finish up the books that I have been meaning to read over the last few years, but never bothered to do so.

Also, you guys already posted some of the resolutions I have made, so yeah :)

message 8: by Leah (new)

Leah Marrin (literarylair) | 8 comments Okay, no problem! Then my other resolution can be to read hyped up/super popular books in the book community

ɑƨħŵɑɡ ♥Team Magnus Damora FOREVER♥ (unheard) | 2402 comments hello guys, cheking in

well, it took me some time to come up with my resolutions but here they are:
1] read for at least 6 2015 debut authors
2] read more mystery-thrillers

message 10: by Marianne (new)

Marianne de Leon (calyp5o) | 8 comments Checking in :)

1) Read classic novels.

2) Finish my reading challenges. *Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge and *Banned Books Challenge (Is that okay? If not...)

2) Finish reading my TBR pile.

message 11: by Manveer (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) Hey! You didn't check me in :p
Just saying. :)

message 12: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments I think Christina hasn't opened, yet. Anyway, glad we're all complete! :)
What are you all reading right now?

message 13: by Marianne (new)

Marianne de Leon (calyp5o) | 8 comments Currently, Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. I was stuck in chapter 7 a few days ago and I experienced the longest reading slump ever so I'm cut up with my last read for December last year.

Leah Marrin (literarylair) | 8 comments I'm reading Winter by Marissa Meyer and it's amazing!

message 16: by Christina (last edited Jan 02, 2016 09:14PM) (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Sorry Manveer, I forgot :p
I might read winter this month as well!

I've started reading About a Girl. In a bit of a slump but back to work which means one hour travel for reading ;)

message 17: by Manveer (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) Hey all! :D What's up guys?
Currently reading Hitchhiker's and All The Light we cannot See side by side.

ɑƨħŵɑɡ ♥Team Magnus Damora FOREVER♥ (unheard) | 2402 comments I'm reading The Iron Knight and Haven

The Iron Knight (The Iron Fey, #4) by Julie Kagawa Haven (War of the Princes, #1) by A.R. Ivanovich

message 19: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments I'm 75% into SLEEPLESS by Tracey Ward. It's for review purposes so that's probably the resolution I'll use it for :)
Happy reading everyone!

message 20: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Well done Mei for posting the first review for the team!
I am reading Oz #6 which should be done soon. Not been reading as much as I'd like to. Already behind on the yearly goal!

message 21: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Thanks Christina! Let's not stress over :) We're a fun team after all!

message 22: by Manveer (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) Okay guys. So graphic novels won't count then?
I'm finished with Hitchhiker's and the first Volume of the Dark Tower graphic novel adaptation.

message 23: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Trying not to stress but I'd like to do at least 5-6 books this month :)
Nice work Manveer! Yep, graphic novels aren't accepted for any challenges

message 24: by Manveer (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) So I need a bit of help here before posting.

I have to stick to my resolutions only or I can use any mentioned by the team?
Also, If I have BR the book, do I need to provide the link?

message 25: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Manveer, no, all the resolutions compiled are to be done as team. Not just your own resolution :)

And yes you need to provide the link. Otherwise, the BR points will not be counted.

message 26: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Hi team. I would like to consult something from you all...
So I just finished another book, titled Never Never (#1) by CoHo and Fisher.

I was thinking I'd put it under the resolution "read hyped up/popular books" since it's really popular, in my opinion.

I asked Sarah if this is subjective or is there some way to identify if it's hyped up, and she said it needs to be amended because it's too vague.

So yeah... Leah, can you please change your first resolution? Thank you :)
Tati, a group member, suggested we could be more specific like "read books with more than 10,000 ratings in Goodreads", but that's just a suggestion. It's your resolution so it's your choice what to change.

Otherwise, I'll just add this book under "read mystery thrillers".

message 27: by Manveer (last edited Jan 07, 2016 03:46AM) (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) So, Here are the books I've read so far.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - From an author I haven't read yet, or popular/hyped up. Which one?
Dark Places(BR) - Mystery thriller
All the Light We Cannot See(BR) - From an Author I haven't read
Messi: The Inside Story of the Boy Who Became a Legend - Different genres.

This fine? Needed to confirm beforehand

message 28: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Manveer, I believe all of them are fine :)
You can list Hitchhiker's to "read from an author I haven't read from", since Sarah (the moderator) said "hyped books" are not specific. :)

message 29: by Manveer (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) Aye. Listed all four.

message 30: by Leah (new)

Leah Marrin (literarylair) | 8 comments Okay, that sounds good! So the new resolution can be to read books with more than 10,000 ratings on goodreads! :)

message 31: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Thanks Leah!!

Just a reminder everyone — if your book is over 450 pages, or has an edition that has over 450 pages, you will need to specify the page number on our review thread to get the bonus point. Otherwise, it won't be counted.

Wait! Can multiple resolutions apply to single book?

message 33: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Oh, no! That's not what I meant, Manveer :)

It's written in the challenge rules:
If you have a book that has 450+ pages, you get a bonus point.

message 34: by Manveer (last edited Jan 10, 2016 05:42AM) (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) Oh ok. One of the books I've added has 530 pages. I guess I'll add a small message regarding that when I add my next book.

message 35: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments That's fine!
You can also other editions' pages, not just yours, so we can get the bonus point.

For example, your edition contains 400 pages. There is an edition for your book that is over 450. You can use that instead.

message 36: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Hi! How's everyone else doing?
It's almost half of the month so it'd be nice to get some updates from the others. :)

message 37: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Still not reading as much as I'd like to. Been doing non buddies. Sort of in a slump. Hope it changes soon!

ɑƨħŵɑɡ ♥Team Magnus Damora FOREVER♥ (unheard) | 2402 comments I've finished Iron Knight and it's a BR .. will write my review then I think I'll finish another book tonight, not sure..

I am lagging behind on my reading plan as well :(

@Christina I hope as well that you get out of this slump <3

message 39: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Christina, that's okay! You've already posted more than one review. I hope you get out of your slump soon! It's really difficult when you have one during a challenge. I experienced it during last month's Series Read Along. I've been reading standalones since then...

Ahwag, I saw your review. They don't allow books started before January 2016 for this particular challenge :(

Happy reading everyone.

message 40: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Thanks Mei
You're doing well!
I've almost finished this net galley and thankfully it's been a good book so far :)

message 41: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments @Ashwag
I notice you've been in a slump recently as well. Hope it goes away for the both of us!

message 42: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Next month's challenge looks so good but I'm not sure if I can do 12 for serious :O

message 43: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Yeah, the challenge has a lot of parts so it required more books to better the chances of completing it. I went for fun though :) Did you join, Christina?

message 44: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Hi team! How's everyone doing? :)
I'm on my 6th book now, actually. 33% into it :D

message 45: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments I might sign up a few days before. Still deciding! How about you?
I'm trying to focus on my fourth book now :)

ɑƨħŵɑɡ ♥Team Magnus Damora FOREVER♥ (unheard) | 2402 comments Hey guys what are you up to?

enjoy what you're reading, that's the most important thing right now..

message 50: by Manveer (new)

Manveer (manveerssj4) Hey guys! Glad you all are reading. I read tons of books in the first half of the month and haven't picked up any during the last week or so.
Luckily, I was at the Jaipur Lit Fest this weekend, Asia's largest litfest and I picked up some pretty sick titles. Can't wait to dive into them :)
