I cannot remember details about this book other than I read it in the 3rd grade so around 1995-1996. I got it from the Scholastic book fair in La Grande Oregon at Greenwood Elementary. The only thing I remember about the plot is that a boy that loved to rid his bike went missing. The biggest detail I have about it is the cover. It was predominantly blue and white (clouds) and it showed a little bit of a cliff ledge with the boy on a bike riding off of the cliff into the clouds. I also remember the title of the book being in gold cursive. "The Boy Who Could Fly" has been suggested but it has never fit.

Could it be the Magic Bicycle by John Bibee:https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
The title is not in cursive (although cover may have been revised since it first came out. Not sure if the book you read was a stand alone. Bibee wrote 8 books in this series.
http://www.amazon.com/magic-bicycle-F... possibly? No descriptions, but I thought possibly. No link at all for the author in GR either.
Do you remember what genre it might be? Fantasy, coming-of-age, historical fiction? Or, maybe the setting?
Some of the details fit On My Honor by Marion Dane Bauer. I don't think that's it, but maybe it could be a starting point for readalikes. Assuming this book didn't involve the bike boy going on a hilarious adventure or something.
Do you want to wait until you can find a copy to check out Niquole or do you want to call this solved?
