Natalie Martinez | 3 comments The kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini was a really powerful book. It filled me with many emotions like sadness anger and hopefulness. It really was a good book filled with many topics and themes. Although about the ending I wish it would have been a little different. My discussion question would have to be about the ending and in general. The ending topic of the book that plagued Sohrab, his depression. Why is the topic of depression so hard to disscuss? why is it hard to people to discuss what they're feelings to someone really close or someone who cared like Amir to Sohrab or even for example Amir to his dad or Rahim Khan. Why was it so hard to be completely honest and open to what was bothering them so hard to admit. Is it something in our nature as humans or something physiological to keep all the bad bottled up even if it means sacrificing your own peace of mind. Relating it back to the book. Do you think things would haven been different if Sohrab and Amir had a lengthy talk about what he was feeling and let him (sohrab) open up and find things that would have helped Sohrab be happy?

Maryam | 3 comments I think you have a great point Natalie, and I think the reason why it's hard to deal with topics such as depression is because people do not know to communicate those topics. For instance in Amir's situation, he most likely didn't know how to deal with such a topic. I think my question would be that when Amir and his father moved to the states do you think that their relationship changed for a specific reason? Throughout the book they had quite a good relationship until that moment. Do you believe that if they hadn't moved, their relationship would be the way it was before?
