If I Stay

Ending of If I Stay

Do not read this post if you haven't already read this book! I'm not saying much but I don't want to give away anything at all.
I bought the book in my kindle and I think something may have gone wrong with my purchase or something. Towards the end when Adam is talking to Mia and she squeezes his hand because she's starting to wake up, he says "Mia?" After that, my version immediately went to the Acknowledgements portion of the book - like that was the end! At first I thought maybe it was just a crappy ending. After reading reviews and the plot for the next book, I know she has to have made a decision but that is nowhere in my book! It's the strangest thing. But before I go and complain to Amazon, I just want to make sure I'm right in saying that the version I received is incomplete. That can't be how it ends, right? I know what her decision is because like I said, I read reviews and the plot for Where She Went, but my purchase doesn't acknowledge that at all. Help!

The Decision she makes is not laid out until the next book which is much better anyways. Giving the sudden cut off of IF I STAY I can only imagine what viewers of the film are going to think if they have no previous experience of the books themselves.

I liked the ending of it . I have not read the squeal yet , but I'm planning on it.
I loved both.
I would have been really aggravated if there hadn't been a sequel, because I never would have known what had happened with Mia and Adam. I felt Where She Went was necessary because a lot of questions were answered. I also thought it was essential that we see Mia surviving the loss of her family, and how she manages to handle her grief.

Did she really Stay?
Did she Really break up with Adam?
We don't know yet On "If i stay" and we would find out on "Where she went"
All i am saying that the ending is not the way is supposed to end, but the way i want is.......... No need to talk about it, Read "where she went" and find out how it ends

I hated the ending
Dramapuppy
I actually really liked it and didn't want a sequel. She made her choice. That's what the book was about. Why drag it out?
...more

No, it really ends like that. I own the book.

I loved the ending! And I hated the sequel. It was unnecessary.
If I Stay was about the choice. After that, there's nothing more to say.

I didn't care for the ending very much I wish it was better explained.
Really suprised by the ending wish it had a better expanationl
I know what you felt. I read the eBook version too and I kinda panicked when the last word I read was "Mia?" and then Acknowledgements. I really thought I got the wrong book, like perhaps I was scammed. Good thing, I searched and found out that it had a sequel and the "Mia?" is really the end of the first book. I finished both and both may not be super-duper exceptional but they're good reads.

The ending in the movie will be like ending of Breaking Dawn Part I.

I read the same version except on my ipad. I thought the book cut off too, but now, it doesn't look like a mistake. Only a crappy ending

I hated the cutoff (and the whole book, but that's a different story). But yeah, that's the ending.
I only read about a quarter of the sequel, but it was depressing. It kind of made me wish Mia had died (which was, you know, her actual choice... not that she had the power to make such a choice, and it was taken away from her anyway!)

I was confused about the ending the first time I read it, but after the second time I realized. I thought that was how the story ends, but then I found out there was a sequel and I was happy.

That is the actual ending but there is a sequel called Where She Went.
the decision she made was to wake up and live (stay) or to die with her family (go) - so her waking up at the end and squeezing Adam's hand is her decision
The film will either end it the way the book does, where she awakens and you know she's made her choice, or they'll do an epilogue containing information provided by the sequel.

I bought The paperback version but that never came in, so I ended up buying The kindle version and reading it in no time at all. I thought that maybe I had just bought a sample or something because of The ending, so I snapped my cousin who had read it in an actual book form and she confirmed The ending. I was in slight shock to say The least. Just glad I bought The sequel also.
