What MOVIES or DVDs have you seen? (PART NINE: On-Going General Thread)
I understand. There was really only one sad part and the ending was happy. I also don't like to watch sad movies. Watched one that wasn't sad tonight, "Ever After," starring Drew Barrymore/a take on the Cinderella story. Kind of fun.
One more good movie based on a true story; "Mermaid," not what you'd think from the title. Mermaid refers to a town in Canada
This one?Mermaid (2000)
Stars: Ellen Burstyn
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0239625/
Filming Locations: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Yes, That is the one and there were several Oscar nominations. I really couldn't believe the four year old actress and all the lines she had to memorize and her actions were so natural. No wonder she was nominated. All the reviews were praiseworthy and they should be.
Perhaps I'll try that movie - because of Ellen Burstyn. I too no longer want to see anything terribly sad. Poldark - Season 3 is now available on Amazon Prime!! After season 2 in order to see future seasons you had to subscribe to n Masterpiece on PBS for a fee. Now, somehow, Amazon Prime was able to get Season 3.

It was a great movie ("When Sparks Fly")! So well cast. The entire cast was perfect! A cute story with enough suspense and variety to keep you watching. Thanks for telling us about it, Nina!
I agree with your summary Joy of When the Sparks Fly and thought Meghan M. was actually a good actress. She played the part well.

We just got our cable bill and it went up $20.00 a month. We get cable and internet bundled together. I'm going to call cable company next week and inquire about our options. With Netflix $10 monthly and Amazon Prime $110 yearly (which includes many things like free shipping, free books, etc) and cable tv - waaaaaay too much $.

What do you watch on YouTube?
PS-Unfortunately, it's getting so that there are more and more untrue stories on YouTube. They just want to have more viewers for their ads. Seems we can't believe anything we read anymore. And the "robot" voices are very unpleasant to listen to.
PS - On YouTube, I've enjoyed watching the Kennedy Center Honors and other award shows. I also enjoy listening to interviews of humorous people like Billy Crystal.
The award speeches can be very entertaining. I also enjoy the faces in the audience. They all look so excited. The celebrities receiving awards at the Kennedy Center Honors are usually very accomplished people.
Just go to YouTube and enter "Kennedy Centery Honors".
Here is a link to them: https://www.youtube.com/results?searc...

We belong to Netflix/ not prime or streaming/and so we pay by the month. So I just ordered that movie.
One of our book club members saw the movie "Book Club" for a 2nd time and said she laughed just as much as the first time!!
Tonight I'm watching CNN - Cuomo Prime Time with Chris Cuomo. Chris used to be on early mornings from 6am to 9am - New Day but recently moved to 9pm. He's intelligent, articulate, considerate, knowledgeable, has integrity, cute. Oh, and did I say cute!!
I'm not usually a follower of any tv persona but Chris got to me - in a good way.
Linda wrote: "Tonight I'm watching CNN - Cuomo Prime Time with Chris Cuomo. ..."I've stopped watching the news. It's too disturbing.
But I agree, Chris Cuomo is good.
I gave up on movies too. Too much violence and horror. They are aimed at the teenagers. The warmhearted ones seemed to be boring at times. Besides I never knew which one to choose. So, for now, I'm reading instead. When I was on the phone with the librarian, trying to download a book, I luckily saw The Aviator's Wife BY Melanie Benjamin. So now I'm reading it in my browser. It's historical fiction about Anne Morrow Lindbergh.
I have 3 other books going, using my Kindle readers:
1. Take Me to Your Heart Again BY Marius Gabriel
2. Matchmaking for Beginners BY Maddie Dawson
and
3. Not Quite Dating BY Catherine Bybee
I may give up on the second one by Dawson. It's just plain silly with too many characters to keep track of and a weak plot.
However, the third one, _Not Quite Dating_ is delightful! I wish they would make a movie out of it, starring Jim Carrey! His character, named Jack, is adorable! It's the first time I've loved a Texas accent! LOL
PS-Audible narration comes FREE with the book, _Not Quite Dating_ ! That's how I hear the Texas accent! :) I can read or listen, or do both at the same time.
We were watching a series on Prime called "Goliath" which the first season was good and I don't recall it being violent (perhaps I just put it out of my mind). Well! The new season has some very disturbing situations. Even though I closed my eyes - didn't do quick enough. I'm not even going to give the link to this series. Violent and disturbing. Shudder!
I agree but do try to see, "Good-by Christopher Robin," and today I watched a movie at the hotel that I saw years ago but still good; "Under the Tuscan Sun."
Nina, my husband and I both like Diane Lane in "Under the Tuscan Sun. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0328589/
Here's a link to "Goodbye Christopher Robin" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodbye...
I vaguely remember reading Under the Tuscan Sun BY Frances Mayes. I guess I never wrote up a review of it.
