Nina | 6069 comments Look up "See You in My Dreams."

message 658: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments I would probably agree it's a three star. Good, but not great.

message 659: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Just watched, "The Prince and the Showgirl," (I think that's the title) starring Laurence Oliver and Marilyn Monroe and she was really a good actress in this besides being so attractive. Sad ending for her but not in the movie.

Nina | 6069 comments I think she had an unusual beauty. Perhaps that was her downfall. I doubt any child could be prettier than Elizabeth Taylor and her life seems sad too.

Below is a YouTube link which you might find interesting:

Nina | 6069 comments Interesting Laurence O. remembering Marilyn Monroe. I had a hard time understanding Jack Lemmon's as I guess my hearing wasn't good enough. I kept hearing an echo. Oh well, the other one was interesting. She was somewhat unbalanced it seemed. Still sad.

I felt the same about "My Life in Ruins" (2009). I gave it one Netflix star.

Mary JL (maryjl) | 527 comments I returned my DVD's to the library today.

The PBS Documentary "The Secret Life Of the Brain" was well made and informative. Which of Course, I expect from PBS.

Also, for a fun read, I saw the 2016 J>J> Abrams version "Star Trek Beyond" . Missed it when it came out last year ---still recovering---but it was good and well worth the wait.

Nina | 6069 comments Lion is based on a true story and that usually helps make the movie good.

message 679: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Linda, you asked if I used any of the blueberry recipes and I want to say my favorite is the blueberry cream cheese bars. They are truly delicious.

Nina | 6069 comments I am enjoying "Miss Fisher and the Murder Mysteries," which are set in Melbourne Australia in the 1920's and just looking at Miss F.'s clothes is worth the time spent watching it as they are simply fabulous..

Miss Fisher is a little "frisky" which makes me laugh!
The clothes, the era, the location all make it a good show.
I'm enjoying reading the books. Just finished series #2.

Linda (goodreadscomlinda_p) | 1251 comments Nina wrote: "Watched "The Blind Side," again after many years and wondering about the ending. It just didn't add up to the beginning. Did you see it Joy?"

I've watched Blind Side many years ago. Sandra Bullock, Kathy Bates and Tim McGraw - all good actors. Recall enjoying the movie. I would need to watch it again to see if the story matches up from beginning to end.

Looked up and found based on "2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis."

Perhaps the book matches up from beginning to end and when the movie is made things get lost in the making of the film which I call "lost in the Hollywood Shuffle."

I plan on starting off with that one - the blueberry cream cheese bars. Waiting for a rainy day. We've been out and about lately.
