Opinions?

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I never read Cecelia Ahern but must say that I finally stopped reading Sparks. Although I enjoyed the books made from his movies, I never liked his writing. I think there are some of my high school students who could write better books if only they had a good agent and publicist.

Aishee I love both the authors. One is the queen of modern fairy-tale whereas the other is the king of romance. Its difficult to compare between two writers of two different genres.

Rachel Medhurst (rachelmedhurst) Nicholas Sparks for me. I love how those stories come from a man! :)

Sindhuja (happinesstrunk) cecelia ahern's P.S. I love you was her best work. her other books are set on fantasy world and kind of make it unrealistic and unrelatable.

Sheetal Dash (sheetalsdash) | 64 comments Being a male, Nicholas sparks has given us weep-tastic storylines rife with youthful romance, reconnection against all odds and outsized emotions.I am a big fan of his.

Melissa Ramirez (melissaramirez) | 241 comments Hmm. Well, in the world of adult romance, Nicholas Sparks is certainly a heavy-hitter. I think his books, despite being tearjerkers, are mostly formulaic. Almost like the way Jodi Picoult likes to incorporate legal/court storylines into her books - if you've read one, you've read most of 'em, y'know?

I feel that way about Mr. Sparks. The book "The Best of Me" is almost exactly like "The Notebook" except with a slightly rearranged story line.

Now, for Cecilia Ahern...I've only read one of her books ("Love, Rosie" AKA "Where Rainbows End") but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am SO PSYCHED for the film adaption to finally come to American theaters!! (FEB 6!!!)

So anyway...both authors do romance well, there's no question, but I would choose Ahern over Sparks, in this instance; personally. Maybe I will change my answer once I get around to Ms. Ahern's other books (if I find them similarly formulaic) but for now...

Cecilia Ahern :)
