Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh! Whatsisname!

Can't say I enjoyed Homeland. Gave up after a few episodes.

Never been accused of being a lady, either...

Steven Beddoe I'm going to see if he'd be willing to do a selfie, not in the middle of the scene...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Don't understand the selfie thing, to be honest.

I'd rather carefully pose and still look like shit.

message 55: by Steven (new)

Steven Beddoe One CANNOT but look like shit in a selfie, especially when there's about a dozen all trying to get in on the shot!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments There's my problem. I need to buy more friends.

Steven Beddoe I just had an email from somebody saying that he thought my book was utter shite and that "David Birney says so."
It took me a few minutes of wondering who the hell he was until I remembered that it was somebody who'd left a negative review of my first book. Fair do's the reviewer is entitled to his opinion. Yet to send me an email telling me my book was crap and to follow in his wake?
Thank you sirrah!
Email is placed in a folder on outlook called "special" lol.
From now on, when my head gets too big for me, I will pull that one out and read it, it'll bring me down to earth I'm sure :-)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments That's harsh. Imagine if you responded to a review in the same way. Seems like you have thick enough skin to cope.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Ignore 'em Steven. What kind of a miserable sod bothers to send an email like that? Someone of no worth, no taste and no intellect. So ignore them.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments What she said. She speaks with wisdom. Probably!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments She speaks with whisky.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I feel sad for the bitter and twisted soul.

Steven Beddoe It doesn't bother me too much, I just thought it was funny. It reminds me very much of The IMDB which is thick with trolls who try and bring down a film just because people liked it. I have learned to ignore those type of people and I guess that the person who'd sent the email is just such a one. I guess he is hoping that I'd reply and thus feed his ego.
I haven't of course nor do I intend to.
On the bright side I have had three fan emails! Those I have taken the time to respond and shown that I'm happy that they are happy with the books :-)

Steven Beddoe It's been a while since I posted here but i'd like to share some good news for you all.
This morning I am close to my first £100 in total sales on the kindle! The only drawback is that I will have to wait 90 days for the cheque to drop through my letterbox. It's been a long time in coming with sales trickling day by day then nothing for weeks on end. Let us hope that the next £100 comes a heck of a lot sooner :-)
Right now I am working on a series of short stories with a view to releasing them as a collection sometime in August. Before that however, I will probably be asking you dear fellows to take a look over the work with a view to improving it and spotting any errors that I may have inadvertently come up with. If you are willing to do that you will earn my gratitude.
I had abandoned my work on my serial killer book for I found it hard going, the plot is ok but the events and characters are much of an uphill battle to outline. I have decided to put it to one side until I can come back to it with fresh eyes, perhaps I will complete it in the new year. We'll see.
Work as an extra has dried up for the moment. Atlantis has now moved to North Africa for outdoor scenes and Wolf Hall appears to be filmed in Devon and not South Wales as was initially hoped. Still, I'm at my PC each day to see if the casting agency has come up with anything.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Steve! Great news!

I hope you spend it on something frivolous!

message 66: by Steven (new)

Steven Beddoe Thank you, I fully intend to spend it on my wife and get her a nice Christmas present :-)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ha!

Hopefully the check will arrive by then!

Oh and do let us know when you've got something ready to beta. I expect someone will take you up on it.

message 68: by Steven (new)

Steven Beddoe Well I have finished the first story in the collection and I am now ploughing my way through the second. Hopefully by August I will have done five tales and at roughly 20,000 words each, this will be ample to justify a book. Once I have gone over it several times to correct things I will be sure to hand it over to others to proof read and see if it is good enough to publish. once all errors are gone, then up it'll go :-)

Steven Beddoe Happy am I to announce that after fighting with a computer on it's last legs, I managed to finish my short story collection and get it published for the kindle. About a day after that my PC had a total meltdown and is now residing in that graveyard where all dead PC's go.
Here is the link for the book...http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0...

I will be posting a question elsewhere on this forum for peeps to answer (or not) so look for that. In the meantime I heartily implore you to give me some Christmas cheer and buy the book. I also fervently hope that you will enjoy my offering!

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments Phew! I know that feeling, Steven. My pc with Word 97 on it was complaining right to the very end of my last book. I kept saving it elsewhere - just in case.

message 71: by Steven (new)

Steven Beddoe It's a pain when you see your beloved PC dies, having said that, I had the thing for a fair number of years and it had seen some intensive work. Especially when I'd been using photoshop on it plus my writings.
Hopefully I will be able to get a new one next year and sooner rather than later. My plan is to write at least two books a year. Three if I can manage it! I already have the plotline for the next one all worked out :-)

message 72: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments I regard my pc as Brain Number Two so yes, like you I find it hard when they get slower and slower and grind to a halt. I currently have three plotlines going on in my overloaded head but so little time to get them tapped out. So maybe you can work on a second plotline until you can get a laptop or whatever. Well, you know what to whisper into Santa's ear, perhaps he and his elves can club together!
