I Actually, it made a pretty big splash in the fantasy community when it debuted. It's become fairly popular.

Mahammed Ali You'll love skullduggery tho, it's not the best written series, but it stays my favourite :D. ...more

I actually only thought this was OK. Well thats unfair actually I thought it was a good book, but it just seemed like violence for the sake of violence. Im a huge fan of violence in fantasy as well but this just didn't do it for me.

Book 2 on the other hand was leaps and bounds better. Loved the story. Probably gonna re read 1 and 2 soon before I grab Emperor

Mahammed Ali I think the first book was acting as a stepping stone for the second book

Frenchie - most feel that the second and third are better than the first. So if you were lukewarm on the first, odds are that you will like the second and third. Jorg moves from the villain protagonist role of the first book to more of an anti-hero in the second and third.

Has anyone read the new book, Prince of Fools (The Red Queen’s War, #1) by Mark Lawrence . I miss Jorg.

This has all the elements I usually like, it's dark and gritty, it has a sci-fi setting but it's a fantasy book, the protagonist is far from a 'good guy'. But for some reason I had such a hard time getting into it. I think there was too much time spent on Jorg's internal reflections on his life, which felt more emo/sad than angry (in contrast to the red rising series for example). This threw me off for some reason. I may give the books another try in the future because it seems to have all the ingredients of a series that I'd love, but I just wasn't too into them. /shrug
