Which character are you most like?
Has anyone read the "Jane Austen Dating Guide"? I checked that out from the library to read as a joke. Its actually pretty insightful. There is a quiz in the back that tells you what type of character you could be when it comes to men. I might have to beware it includes characters like Lydia & Mary Crawford. Then there is a quiz for the guys that you tend to like and it rates your typcial guy that you date. I wonder what that will be....if anything else its funny to read. I hear there is one on manners as well. Might have to look into that one before my niece & nephew visit. Lord knows that they may need some guidance! Ha HA Ha! The life of being a spoiled child!
My results:Elinor Dashwood 78%
Elizabeth Bennet 75%
Jane Bennet 72%
Emma Woodhouse 53%
Marianne Dashwood 53%
Charlotte Lucas 50%
Lady Catherine 22%
Not too surprised by these... although I'm probably not as sensible as Elinor is. Lizzie and Emma are my favourite Austen heroines so I'm happy I got quite high scores for them :)

I am not too surprised, although I happen to personally like Elizabeth more. I can see a little Elinor in me--and my husband would probably say he could see a little more Elinor then I could. :)
We had so much fun with the last quiz that I thought you might appreciate this one, since it includes more characters and, to me, seems pretty accurate (skip all of the junk they want you to fill out before you get your results, though):http://www.selectsmart.com/FREE/selec...
My top 5 results:
1. Fanny Price
2. Ann Elliot
3. Mariane Dashwood
4. Elinor Dashwood
5. Jane Fairfax
I'm always surprised that Mariane and Elinor always end up at the top, since they are so different. I haven't read Persuasion or Emma yet, so I can't say how I feel about those results. I really relate to Fanny, though, especially since we're both pretty shy and reserved.
I'm definitely Marianne Dashwood!! Same impulsiveness, I cannot hide my feelings and when I love someone I really give myself out. I really admire ELinor, and Jane Fairfax, and of course Elizabeth, but I cannot restrain my feelings and seem to be still when I'm upset, or to be indiferent when I'm inlove.... diplomacy is not one of my virtues!!!
I guess I'm most like Mr. Bingley (which I would probably agree with)then Marianne Dashwood (again, can sort of agree with)
and finally Catherine from Northanger Abby (which, I can't comment on, since I've yet to read it)
Quite fun!:)
Ann - I hope you enjoy NA when you get a chance to read it. It's one of my favorites - for now, I'd say it's 2nd after P&P.
http://www.quizilla.com/quizzes/resul...You are Emma Woodhouse from Emma. A classic only child personality, you are constantly trying to rearrange the world (and society) to suit your personal world-view. Mostly, you succeed at that! You are persuasive and charming, and almost always manage to get your way-- which is good, because, as we all know, your way is the right way.
http://selectsmart.com/FREE/select.ph...
My #1 is: Mr. Bingley/Jane Bennet from Pride & Prejudice
My #2 is: Fanny from Mansfield Park
My #3 is: Elinor Dashwood from Sense & Sensibility
I am most like: Emma, who is possibly one of the most loyal characters of Austen, always wanting better for those around her and doing all she possibly can to make it happen. Her motives sometimes get in the way of her good intentions and her own opinions can end up ruling her actions, but she has a good heart. She loves to be social and is welcoming to most, unless they are too silly to tolerate. While she sometimes changes her behavior to make others feel comfortable, she knows who she is and is always bettering herself.

I'm not surprised to be a Marianne. I have done quite a few Marianne-like things in my life. I've never really compared myself to Jane Austen's characters but I like the results. I'm especially proud of my Elizabeth and Jane results.
A good mix of those two women is a very nice thing.
You Scored as Elizabeth BennetAs one of Austen's most beloved characters, Elizabeth Bennet represents what most women would like to become: strong, independent, and loyal. Of course, she has her faults including a stubborn will of iron and a clinging to first impressions. Overall, Lizzie is bright and lovable...something to admire and aspire to.

Scoring pretty high as Elinor Dashwood makes a lot of sense for me. I tend to be a bottler of my emotions when it comes to other people. I also really appreciated her sense of control and propriety in Sense and Sensibility.
What a fun quiz!
My results:"You Scored as Elinor Dashwood
As Marianne's older sister, Elinor lives at the other end of the emotional spectrum. She rarely reveals her intense feelings and is more concerned with being honest and loyal than having what she deserves. Even though her intentions are pure, she sets herself up for loss by constantly placing other people before her own needs. Overall, Elinor is gentle and rational but is just as capable of radical emotions (despite her withholding them) as her sister."

Is Cathy Morland even on this quiz? Another quiz I took said I was most like her and I have to agree with that. I never ever considered myself to be like Elinor. She is far more rational than I am. :o)
Fun quiz, though. I'll have to try the other one now.
For the second quiz:1. Fanny from Mansfield Park
2. Mariane Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility
3. Catherine from Northanger Abbey
4. Anne Elliot from Persuasion
5. Eliza Bennet from Pride and Prejudice
Apparently, my likeness to Fanny is pretty strong. I guess Mansfield Park is next on my list to read. As soon as I'm done with NA, that is--which I am really enjoying, by the way. What struck me as really funny was my #6: Mr Darcy.

Wow, tough one to call. Every Austen character is so universal, more than one apply. I'd have to say I've got Elizabeth Bennet's sense of humor, Georgiana Darcy's shyness (in public, at least), Catherine Morland's naive imagination, Marianne Dashwood's romantic notions, and--dare I say it?--Mr. Darcy's reserve (well, in the sense that he never said much in company).
Not at all surprised about Elizabeth Bennet. What I am surprised about is Emma being second instead of Marianne....You Scored as Elizabeth Bennet

I Scored as Jane BennetAs someone who would rather see the good in people, Jane is a true pacifist and caregiver. At times, her shy temperament and naive outlook of people can land her in a compliant position, but those who know her love her for her positive spirit and cheerful view of what surrounds her.

I don't want to be ashamed of myself but I think I am mostly Fanny Price. If I was raised in a community who looked down upon woman with big mouths than I saddly I would not disagree.
I would never think of matchmaking people, although I have heard of people matchmaking others and the matchmaking people have lasted longer than the matchmaker and her husband.

Well, I only dreamed to be Lizzie, but I thought I was more Elinor as well. I'm actually a little balanced between all my fave characters ... independent and witty like Lizzie, quiet & observant like Jane, romantic & hopeful like Marianne and practical & reserved like Elinor... yeah, that could sum me up.
