Usually in novels or on the screen we see partners as either clashing or as soul mates. However, with Harry and his partner Edgar we see that they are neither. How did you see them and did you find this interesting?

[Lauren]

Well, they haven't been partners that long and have not yet developed the relationship that comes along with two people who have spent a lot of time together. Right now, they are more acquaintances than partners.

[Jonetta]

I couldn't get a good or bad vibe about their relationship so that means something. Both seem to be figuring out if they can trust each other.

[Charlene]

I did wonder about a policeman, supposedly full time, who did real estate on the side. Was he part time?

[Jonetta]

He wasn't supposed to be doing real estate on the side. Harry was sharing in keeping it sort of secret.

[Lauren]

I aslo got the impression that Edgar shouldn't be working real estate on the side but then later in the book he said something about being allowed to have a 2nd job (there was something about his new partner being security at a bar but that was only an excuse so he could drink).

[Jonetta]

Their relationship is a bit vague.

[Jonetta]

I didn't get the loyal partner vibe from either Harry or Edgar

[Veronica]

They haven't been partners for very long and I get the sense that Edgar's full heart isn't with his police work anyway however, that said, it seems like the two men have at least a certain modicum of respect for each other and both seem to be good men at their cores. Edgar was still willing to help Harry when he could despite some of the seemingly dodgy things going on and Harry seemed to try to protect Edgar from any bad repercussions. So, not a bad start, I'd say.

That's a really insightful way to put it, Veronica.

Yes, they did seem to have a solid foundation in this one even if it had not yet progressed to a full and trusting partnership.
