Does 14 explain the weird ending? SPOILERS

14 does provide a bit more context. It doesn't necessarily explain things as much as gives you more information about the world in general, if that makes any sense. I enjoyed it more than The Fold, for what it's worth.

Thanks!
14 is great. It bears a similarity to the Fold, and they are both clearly set in the same universe (well, set of universes), but it works a whole lot better.I did like the idea of a hero with a photographic memory, though.

How much better is 14? I liked The Fold a ton as I was reading it, but the ending really annoyed me, and I left with neutral feelings. Is there any point in my reading 14?
14 is one of my favourite books from the last few years. Like I said, it has some elements in common with The Fold, but it explains itself better, the secondary characters get a bit more to do, and the ending is much stronger. If you liked the way the first two-thirds of The Fold built, you should like 14.

If he's aiming to make a loosely-connected trilogy, it might be that The Fold was just the weak middle part and not the best place to start.

Regardless, is 14 worth reading? I'm honestly not a fan of The Fold; the ending kind of ruined it. Still, I liked the writing style. Is 14 any better? Does it put The Fold in context and fix the ending somehow?
