What amount of books do you plan to read in 2016? I aim for 100. Share below.

I don't really care about the amount, I just think that as long as you stick to it it's great, whether you read 100 or 8 books per year.
@Sidra I have the same problem. Yay for both of our goals of 20 :) Its still an increase from 2015.
and unlike Aaron I am a sloooow reader.
yup about that slow, Aaron. lolPerhaps when I read more and more I will speed up. That would be useful.
I have two rates I think. Slow and slower... If I love it I read fast (which really is slow) and if its more boring? I read slower.... I find that its a reading rate similar to a fine thick honey.

There are weeks when I get through 2 books a day but also weeks when I only manage that - or less - in a week. Depends on how busy my life is! X

Aaron(RetroSonic) wrote: "Reading is like sex. Some go too fast, some too slow, and some stop right in the middle. LOL"Well that's my motto for this year, hahahaha!
I have set my goal here on Goodreads for 35, I study, which means I won't have as much time, but I'm secretly hoping it will be a lot more.
I also have the problem of re-reading books, in which case they don't count as read this year so :P
I'm aiming for one a week, so I rounded to an even 50. I had a lot of downtime/travel time the last couple days, so I've knocked out 2 already (Gone Girl & The Girl on the Train... yes, I know I'm late to the party on both of those). I think the biggest problem, for me, will be selecting books. I'm picky, so even when I find something I like tremendously, I won't necessarily like similar books. It's hard deciding on books at random from various lists!
@Erin. I loved Gone Girl!!! Have you seen the movie? I have only read the book. Never seen the movie. If you like fantasy stories you should try Throne of Glass. Its my new most favorite.
@Anny what books do you usually re-read?
I am aiming for 200. It might be a lot, but I read 5 to 6 books a week because I can read fast.
@Yelena Usually books that I have either not read in so long that I feel like I have forgotten things, or books that I just enjoyed A LOT, as some form of casual reading between all the other books. It's relaxing to re-read a favourite because you don't miss anything if you lose focus a bit, you already know everything that's going to happen :PRight now I'm in the process of re-reading the Harry Potter books because of unknown reasons ;) Next I think will be Fahrenheit 451, it's been a LONG time.
Do people ususally re-read things, or is it just me?

My standards are set very high and I ofen go "oh I should read this book because everyone says it's good" and then read the first part and go "this is not as good as this other book I loved". It's a problem, really.
@Anny whenever I re read I like that I usually catch things that I missed before. Like ooooh I get why they doing this or acting this way now it all makes sense :)
One a week is a good goal! Maybe 2017 I'll have that goal

I hear about The Night Circus, Darker Shade of Magic, etc., and I'm just like ehhhhhhhhh... it makes it difficult to get invested!

"I enjoyed the Night Circus, but I haven't read Jonathan Strange (had it on my To Reads list FOREVER though), maybe I should give it a try and see if it works the opposite way too :P
I think I might just not be a genre person, I love certain books, but there is NO guarantee I will love a fantasy book just because I'm a fan of Lord of the Rings.
Which is sad!

i was wondering why this group never has events...
wouldnt it be really cool if we organized that the whole group has a readathon/all just read for an hour ?
I would really enjoy it as im trying to make more goodreads friends
Taylor wrote: "That's a good idea ^__^ so, we could do something like read 2 or 3 books in a week?"i just posted my idea
Taylor wrote: "Yeah I responded with a 'yes'"thanks should i figure out the time for different time zones?
Taylor wrote: "You could just put "Your local time" down."it would be good to have everyone reading at the same time tho
True. Okay, for our time (Ireland, England etc) GMT. PST for North America (I think ?) and then Central Standard Time used for Texas and everything. That's the time zones, I think. Australia is like 12 hours ahead of us so they will be starting a day ahead.

Tried following the link you posted, Chloe, for more details but Goodreads just kept saying it couldn't find it! X
She deleted it, Jan . We're going to be starting mini challenges every month instead, sorry for the inconvenience .
