This is the spoiler thread for Feverborn for after you've finished it. DISCUSSION happens here.

I just finished Feverborn and I'm sad to say I only give it 2 stars. Mac annoyed me to no end. The timeline was completely unrealistic. There hasn't been enough personal growth or character development for any of the characters. Absolutely no plot points were resolved. This was a filler book that was extremely disappointing.

While I'm thinking about it. I have always given the whole pedophile angle of soft pass because nothing actually happened or was said. But in this book two adult men admit to wanting a 14 year old deeply disturbed and abused girl and we are all supposed to be okay with it. I'm not.

B (bwheat) | 12 comments I wish I had stopped reading after book 5. Story needs to move faster, like the first few books!

YES THIS.

It's not ok. The first five books have things that bother me, but nothing hinges on a plot point so utterly devoid of self-awareness. KMM has just totally lost the plot with the entire Dani/Jada nonsense. She cannot come back from what she started in Iced. It's always going to be not ok.

Zee Well, its not Dani that they're attracted to, its Jada. Which I suppose tries to draw your mind away from the age issue. Except I lived Dani and want her back.

I suppose that argument could be made, but the fact remains that all 3 men felt possessive and desirous of Dani long before she became Jada. They may not have acted on the physical side, but the emotional connection existed when she was a child. An abused, broken child being desired by not one but 3 grown men.

Zee That was a bad move. Especially since The Fever series is not YA. I don't know how a writer ever comes back from something like this.
