I feel exactly the same way. In the first book I really hated Clancy and perhaps in the second one too. However, in the third when we discover more of his past and troubles I started to sympathise with him. Even though he has no excuse for many of the things he did but it's hard to hold a grudge over him after hearing about his life. Also even though he is the villain of the book, being the slip kid doesn't make him a terrible person. I don't think people realise he is giving these kids a place to feel safe again and I think he did have maybe some good intentions at some point... Well maybe.
I believe he's not all bad and probably had good intentions at some point. He's not a monster to me.
Yeah, most definitely. He must have good intentions but went about them in the wrong way.
I think a lot of the time he was just being selfish but I know he has a heart. He cared about Nico, I know it. I felt so bad for Nico in the last book.
He was selfish but at the same time he wasn't. I don't know how to explain it but he was one minute selfish and the next he showed he cared. Yeah I still feel so bad for Nico he was such a good character.
I never really liked him at all, but by the third book I did feel kind of sorry for him.
I like the bad guys, but when he tried to take advantage of Ruby in the first book, that was crossing the line for me. I do not tolerate a boy that would hurt a girl like that. He was kissing her and making her want it and GAH it made me want to punch his face in. So yes, I understand why people would hate him in the first and second books. I do feel very sorry for the person he became.
Most people hate Clancy no matter what, but I'm curious if anyone feels the same way I do. I have a soft spot when it comes to villains so it's to be expected that I sympathize with Clancy.
