Dream When You’re Feeling Blue by Elizabeth Berg – 2.5** Berg takes us to Chicago at the time of World War II in this story about three sisters, their lively Irish family, and the men they love. It started out okay, got very interesting in the middle and then completely lost credulity in the last two chapters. What I most enjoyed about this novel was the look at everyday life on the domestic front during this very trying time in history. I especially liked the way Berg talked about the way that the roles of women in America were forever being changed by the requirements of war. Berg narrated the audio version herself. She does a credible job, but she should really let a professional voice artist read her books.

I read the first 2 books: A Faerie's Secret ★★★ & The Faerie Prince ★★★★ for a R4R before the 3rd book was out. I forgot about the series and I'm really enjoying this one! And there are 3 more out after this one, but I think it's a different main character.

The Good Thief’s Guide to Amsterdam by Chris Ewan – 3***This is the first in a mystery series featuring Charlie Howard, successful author and part-time professional burglar. I thought it was highly entertaining, with a fast pace, interesting characters, and a great setting. I was charmed by Charlie and I’ll definitely read more of this series.

Read:
★★★★★ - Adored this.
★★★☆☆ - Definitely worth it for fans of thrillers and mysteries. It's based in Hawaii and the writer threw in a bunch of pidgin which, while very authentic, did super bad things for me staying in the flow of reading.Reading today at least:
On Deck AKA Yay for depressing reading material!:
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng – 4**** “Lydia is dead. But they don’t know this yet.” So begins this exquisite novel about a Chinese American family living in 1970s small-town Ohio. Ng explores the nuances of family dynamics – how a parent’s own disappointments may translate into dreams for a child’s future, how a child may feel burdened by those dreams, how siblings may compete for or retreat from parental attention. Cassandra Campbell does a fine job narrating the audio version. She has good pacing, and I felt connected to the characters by her performance.

Currently Reading on my Kindle:
Love Naam's Nexus series! Well-researched and takes the reader around the world.
Just started and wanted to read for a long time:
Extraordinary true story. I am impressed by the detail in which the author describes his difficult childhood.
Reading soon:
Really enjoyed the first book and I'm looking forward to continuing this one. The preview at the end of book one hooked me.
I really want to participate in buddy reads but never can seem to find time for it. I'm a slow reader and books such as Apex with over 600 pages are wonderful, but take me forever! Maybe someday. Any other SciFi lovers, please give me a shout out...I don't see many of you in the threads I read.
Monday, Monday by Elizabeth Crook – 4**** In August 1966 Charles Whitman shot and killed or wounded dozens of students, faculty and first responders from the clock tower on the University of Texas campus in Austin. This novel explores the effects of that event on the lives of three fictitious characters. What a wonderfully complex character-driven story. As the story follows them through the decades we come to know their strengths, weaknesses, dreams, and fears.

Dance Hall of the Dead by Tony Hillerman – 4**** It's book number two in Tony Hillerman's Joe Leaphorn series ... need I say more? This is a good mystery with a little Native American cultural information in the mix. I love the way Leaphorn thinks things through before acting. George Guidall does a good job on the audio. He has good pacing and I really like the way he voices Leaphorn.
