SOLVED. Adult mystery, group of 20 somethings living in apartment, one girl killed. [s]

From what I remember of the book, a woman recalls her younger years. She was living in a shared home with a couple of 20 year olds, meets this girl and they become friends. They paint her new room together. Everyone living there has some kind of baggage. There's at least one couple living there. One day someone comes home and finds her friend dead with blood on the floor. Later police come and are a bit suspicious because their jar of money is still there and they struggle to find a motive. In present time she is married to a priest or something like that. They do have some intimate moments. Her estranged daughter comes home for some kind of holiday. I think she may be a twin. The woman has some kind of contact with her old roommates. The woman also recalls cleaning up the blood. I read the book a couple years ago and I didn't get to finish the book, and it's been haunting me ever since.
