I'm new here but wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kim, I've just turned 40, I live in Maryland, am British in heritage, am dating an Italian. I'm a voracious reader with an expansive vocabulary which I use often, much to the chagrin of those around me.I'm also currently recovering from a bout with cancer, so sometimes chemo leaves me with an incorrect word or two. I've read several posts in this group and I think I'm just enough of a nerd with a sardonic enough wit to fit in. You guys seem just like my people!
Hello, Kim, and welcome. Sorry to hear of your recent troubles, but I hope you're on the path to recovery.
Kat wrote: "I...I didn't realize sardonic people can be smelled."It's one of our key characteristics. A defense mechanism against shallow happy people.
Hi everyone! I'm Lori, and I just joined today. I'll try not to be shallow and happy at the same time! :)
Take note members of RWS as well as here. Lori exists... therefore I wasn't wrong when I quoted her in the appropriate section the other day. Anyway, welcome to TC, Lori.
Poor Rhyan. We are confusing to the newer folks. We're not hazing you, we all really do like you! You are among friends.
Mark wrote: "Indeed! This element of intimidating confusion is the very reason for this thread."What is?
Cynthia wrote: "I will have everyone here know that Rhyan is NOT a buckaroo."Well, thank goodness for that.
The Buckaroos were a Grammy-winning band led by Buck Owens in the 1960s and early '70s, who were heavily involved in the development and presentation of the "Bakersfield Sound." Their peak of success was from 1965-1970. In 2005, CMT named the Buckaroos No. 2 on its list of the 20 Greatest Country Music Bands.
