Kim (BritishLass929) (britishlass929) I'm new here but wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kim, I've just turned 40, I live in Maryland, am British in heritage, am dating an Italian. I'm a voracious reader with an expansive vocabulary which I use often, much to the chagrin of those around me.

I'm also currently recovering from a bout with cancer, so sometimes chemo leaves me with an incorrect word or two. I've read several posts in this group and I think I'm just enough of a nerd with a sardonic enough wit to fit in. You guys seem just like my people!

message 2409: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Welcome to TC, Kim. Hope you enjoy it.

message 2412: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I lived in Maryland for a while. To be honest, I don't miss all of the traffic and congestion.

It's one of our key characteristics. A defense mechanism against shallow happy people.

Janice (jamasc) Welcome Kim and Kat!

message 2420: by Lori (new)

Lori (lkeener) | 20 comments Hi everyone! I'm Lori, and I just joined today. I'll try not to be shallow and happy at the same time! :)

message 2421: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Happy or shallow would be okay, just not both together.

Hi Lori, and welcome.

message 2422: by Mark (new)

Mark Burns (TheFailedPhilosopher) | 441 comments Take note members of RWS as well as here. Lori exists... therefore I wasn't wrong when I quoted her in the appropriate section the other day. Anyway, welcome to TC, Lori.

Can sea monkeys be sardonized?

message 2428: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sally wrote: "Can sea monkeys be sardonized?"

It's a highly involved, technical process. But yes.

Well, thank goodness for that.

message 2441: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Yes please no more buckaroos.

message 2442: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) The Buckaroos were a Grammy-winning band led by Buck Owens in the 1960s and early '70s, who were heavily involved in the development and presentation of the "Bakersfield Sound." Their peak of success was from 1965-1970. In 2005, CMT named the Buckaroos No. 2 on its list of the 20 Greatest Country Music Bands.
