Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY! We had a great dinner kn a warm comfortable house. everyone walked away full. The family was together and mostly healthy. A lot to be thankful for and I took a minute during the meal to remind everyone just how much we had to be thankful for. However, the turkey is all gone! No leftovers. Bigger turkey next time.

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Hi all, I'm from Bristol, England. I'm new to goodreads and I'm just exploring and checking things out.

Welcome Malcolm.

I wasn't sure if I should tell you to...

...run while you have the chance Malcolm they are all mad as hatters in here.

...or start talking about the Ashes series. :D

message 1108: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Welcome, Malcolm.

message 1109: by [deleted user] (new)

I beat you to it Larry!!!

message 1110: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yes you did!

message 1111: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Hi Gail and Larry. I take no interest in the snorefest that is the Ashes series. The English play cricket like girls anyhow. West Indian cricket is far more exciting :o)

message 1112: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments welcome,Malcolm. Hey Larry, another one who does not have a picture/icon...I must have set a trend.

message 1113: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Hi Michelle. I have no picture/icon because my mobile device is playing up :o(

message 1114: by [deleted user] (new)

I am sure if we work on Malcolm he will quickly post a picture. He is already showing a lot of sense regarding cricket!

message 1115: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) So are you going to buy me a new ZTE Racer then or a laptop?

message 1116: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Ought I set up a wishlist so you can all club together and buy me a new mobile device or laptop?

message 1117: by [deleted user] (new)

Replace your avatar with a picture and we might think about it. :)

message 1118: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) As I explained earlier my mobile device is playing up. It has seemed to have deleted all my pics from my memory card and won't let me save anything new on it grr. . . And you making a song and dance about me not having a pic isn't helpful. Get a life or read a book or something ffs

message 1119: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Where are you from Gail - UK, USA or AUS?

message 1120: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I've never heard the term "playing up." Does that mean it's giving you fits?

message 1121: by [deleted user] (new)

It wasn't me asking for a new laptop or ZTE Racer. It was really aimed at Michelle, my apologies I must have been typing when you mentioned the phone in Msg 1220. I get a bit of time delay on the posts at this end. AUS

message 1122: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Barb who says I'm upset apart from you? You should learn the meaning of irony ffs

message 1123: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Lol no it's not turning me epilectic or convulsive. It just has a shitty manual and a will of its own grr . . . Aus nice. Are you for or against our dear old queen? . .

03:30 here. I'm off to the land of Nod. Adieu.

message 1124: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) yee hah

@ Malcolm. Indifferent to the Queen. She is our head of state but impacts on our country in no way shape or form. I did vote to become a republic in the last referendum.

@ Larry
Really? Playing up is a common term here. It has two meanings.

"Playing up" - with reference to boys out on the town being a bit naughty.

"Playing up" - a device of any kind that isn't working properly.

message 1134: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Wow you're right -- it does have some cleavage.

Barb! Put on your glasses! They're huge.

message 1136: by [deleted user] (new)

It can be used in reference to kids misbehaving. You would say that the kids were 'playing up'.

The squirrel just looks like he's having fun.

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments HEY1 I did it! I did it! I posted an avatar...thanks for everybody's help. Using the "internet for seniors for dummies" was a help as well. and my sister in law who told me what a "right click" was.

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments Malcolm, my comment was aimed at a certain person who will remain unnamed who vigorously urged me to post a pid or avatar. repeatedly. take your time. hope you had a good night. good luck with your computer. That's why I am sticking with my old fashioned photo albums.

message 1142: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Thanx Michele :o)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Hi all, just thought I'd pop in for a peep from the warmth and comfort of my bed.

How is everyone? Did you Yanks have a good thanksgiving? Did you buy many xmas presents going cheap in the sales?

Why do they called the thanksgiving sales "black" when it's supposed to be a retailer's economy boost? Traditionally economic disasters such as the Wall Street Crash as termed "black"

message 1144: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) *are termed as* grr lol

It refers to "in the black" (the opposite of "in the red"). Retailers are turning a profit.

message 1146: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Thanks Rock Lobstergirl. I was a tad confused lol how are you? Where in the world are you?

message 1147: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) How does one check out other's profiles? When I click on a name all I get is a list of their comments made within this group :o(

message 1148: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Try clicking the avatar photo instead of the name. That works in my browser at least. Are you surfing the web with a computer or a phone? Can make a difference sometimes...

message 1149: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) By phone. Yeh, after I posted my last comment I clicked on lobster's pic and discovered her profile. Thanx Jonathan :o)

message 1150: by Malcolm (new)

Malcolm Esquire (MalcolmEsq) Hi Jonathan I just had a quick glance at your profile. Very impressive. American Gothic is the picture the satirize at the begining of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, isn't it? The farmer and his wife outside of their barn (or a church). In the film we are introduced to Brad and Janet at a wedding.
