looking for something similar

Guys, I'm looking fo recommendation for similar books (read about 7 dresden, and 8 october daye)
I read other stuff, but the genre of good light supernatural detective books serve well as my "between" books and i'm afraid i'll run out

The Dresden files only seems like a simple supernatual detective series but there is an overall plot which, as it progresses, becomes evident and more complicated. Some of these series are similar.

the 70's porn theme was was made me give up on anita blake after book 7 ot 8. I don't care about the lead character gender, I'm looking for entertainment, not bad pornography.

I'd also recommend Larry Correia's Monster Hunter International. It's got the same level of snark/sarcasm and great humor.

I was only saying that Urban Fantasy with female leads tend to have have more romantic/sexual elements. The Anita Blake series is an example of a series with a female lead. Like the Dresden books, a lot of the Urban Fantasy with male leads don't have as much. All of the books I listed have male leads, and the ones that I've read are quite good, and are not bad pornography.

While I'm thinking about it, I'll also recommend the дозор/Watch novels (starting with Night Watch) by Sergei Lukyanenko.

I am late to this party but I have a couple of suggestions that have not been listed.

Dog Days by John Levitt-Four books. They have been out for a while and not talked about much but I liked them. Not so much light detective stories but it is Urban Fantasy like the two you mentioned.

Than there is the Simon Canderous novels by Anton Strout. They are more along the lines of detective. The first two are lighthearted but I think they lose that after that. Still good though.

And the new series by Lisa Shearin It's about a secret organization fighting bad creatures of the night.

And one other that has two books out now but I will have to find the one I have,


And if I might also suggest even though it has a female hero there isn't much romance in it and there is a mystery to solve.

I too am late on this but I have read a series that I feel would be a great fit for you. It's not mystery but it fits into the monster scene. Check out Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia. It's the first in a series that follows the experiences of protagonist Own Zastava Pitt as he discovers the meaning of a horrible boss... Did you really think I was going to spoil this? Enjoy!

;) Well, there are a lot of references to types of guns, emotional connection to guns and other weapons, and a whole lot of shooting and blowing things up. However, there's also elves, orcs, monsters of all types including vampires and werewolves, and even a bit of romance. I enjoyed reading them all.
