Interesting! There are a few on the list though that I don't think I could get through - a political memoir could be a hard slog!

So, the main part of the 2016 challenge is one book from before your TBR pile and 1 new book from our group per month...sound good?
That...I can do. Do you know how to set up voting? Maybe we can squeeze in a group read too? Also, can I assume we are starting in January? Are you going to create new threads for each month in each category?

Yeah! Jean has agreed to be our slave! I'm up for any book type to read and a buddy read to if needed. Though, we will have to drag this to the blog too, since some are not on Goodreads. :)
I was working on a challenge list for myself for 2016 based on my TBR mountain. I'm such a mood reader I gave myself several options per month. I'm throwing it out here as a suggestion. It can of course be changed if others are interested.2016 Reading Challenge
January One is the loneliest number… read a stand alone book that has been on your tbr the longest, the next book in a series you’ve been meaning to read, a book featuring angels/demons or aliens, one of the most talked about books from last year
February The month of romance. Read a book featuring a fake relationship, a young adult/new adult romance, or a book featuring a couple that has problems with their marriage or a duology
March A trilogy you haven’t started yet. or a trilogy you started and haven’t finished yet, a book where the hero is part of the mafia or motorcycle club, a sports romance(march madness)
April a comedy romance (april fools) or (april showers) read a dark gritty book, a book with an autistic character (april is autism awareness month)
May a book set in high school or college, a book featuring fae/faeries,a book where characters are stuck in a storm or stranded somewhere together(may day), a book with the word beautiful in the title, the first book of a series
June a book featuring a road trip or summer vacation or a book set someplace you want to visit, a book where a main character is in a wedding party or a wedding takes place in the book, a dystopian or apocalyptic book
July a book featuring a military hero/heroine,police man/woman, fireman hero or heroine, an historical romance, a romantic suspense
August across the tracks read a romance where the characters come from different social classes, fish out of water a book with a character that suddenly finds themselves somewhere they don’t fit in (ex: new school, bully, time travel, dimension travel) , a new to you author
September a fantasy or science fiction book, a book with a celebrity character, a fairy tale or a retelling
October a book with ghosts or ghost hunters, a vampire romance, werewolf or witches, a book featuring the grim reaper or a character with reaper powers, a book where death is a character, a book that scares you( could be horror or a book out of your comfort zone)
November a book featuring a character with a large family(or a series where each sibling gets a book) , a book featuring soulmate, fated mate or reincarnation.
December a holiday romance, a book that takes place during winter, one of the buzz books of the year

Anna, I like your suggestions. It provides guidance as well as options. I think I could follow it and it would help make a dent in my 450 TBR books.

I've decided I'm going to make an overall goal of 120 books for 2016, including one from my TBR (pre-2016 acquired books) pile each month and one group read from our Wolf Pack/Bridesmaids group :) I also am going to try and do the Popsugar checklist I posted up at the top at this discussion.
Wow... what a lofty goal I've set for myself for the new year haha! I love it!
I'll start a suggestions thread for the January group read... (feel free to invite any other book friends to join us in the craziness, the more the merrier!)
Fabi- I love planning and list making. The problem is actually sticking with the plan. I will get distracted with new books at some point.Jennifer- :) I was trying to give myself options to find something that fits whatever mood I'm in.
Lol Anna, its sticking with the plan that I have a hard time with too. But you did an awesome job with that challenge. Amazing.
Thanks for the invite Grey. I am usually not very good at challenges, i.e. sticking to a set plan, because I usually get distracted by the shiny new books, but I can certainly try the condensed version of the tbr and new read.I'm also in for The Score.
I'm also in for The Score but I have to catch up. I've read The Deal but not The Mistake. I can read The Score for my new purchase in January and the read The Mistake or the second book in the Indebted series for my TBR book for January...both books will fit Anna's January description and they are both in my TBR books...I like this challenge stuff! Definitely looking forward to thinning out my TBR books.

I'm looking through my TBR and I've got major variety here. So the goal is to read one of these a month? I am seriously drawing a blank on which to read first.
You could loik through Anna's list of monthly themes and pick a Jan out of that. Or look at Grey's link of the 2016 challange and narrow it down with that theme.I have the opposite problem. I'm such a moody reader that I need a wide open field to pick a book. Any constraints and I'm likely to dnf one just because I wasn't in the mood for it.
Are you going to read The Score with us as the Jan BR?
Grey, when are we starting it? It would be great to all start reading it at the same time.

I'm almost done with Mud Vein and I am not sure what to think AT ALL!
I haven't read that KA series yet either, so I'm out on Sebring.
I'm out on Sebring too. I'm not familiar with the seriea or the book coming out.
Grey - I had to do LoA in small doses - one book at a time with lots of other reads in between. How can you read more than one? So wicked. Sebring - that series was my least favorite of KAs... the Unfinished Heroes series. I'll read it, because I'm a loyal fan - but not the least bit excited about it. Sad.
BTW - on Goodreads I am just plain old Michelle instead of MichelleS - is that going to confuse people?

Nope. No issue and besides, the other Michelle doesn't like Goodreads.
I read LoA all books back to back. That was a very long period of my time.
Maybe I'll join in reading the rest of Blindfolded Innocence?
I was going to squirrel from the indebted series late into book #3 but it's so good I really want to start book #4... I will be buddy reading a bit behind because I need to re-read The Deal, then read The Mistake,...I guess I'm sort of missing the concept of buddy- reading huh?
lol Jenn, yeah. But you don't have to re-read The Deal and you could probably catch up on The Mistake later. These are stand alone books over different characters. The only connection is that some of them are friends.
I know but I remember getting specific descriptions about the guys and everyone seems to love Dean and is looking forward to his story but I can't remember why?!

I am feeling all over the place! Just finished the emotionally exhausting Indebted book #5, flippin' 2 more to go, The Score is coming out soon, I am early into a re-read of The Deal, and I recommended Jezebel for my book club on the 19th....gah!! WHAT DO I READ NEXT?!
I'm reading small novellas since tomorrow (or nine tonight for me) is The Score release date. I don't want to be wrapped up in something else. Maybe you have a few novellas to read before it hits?
I'm having trouble reading anything! I blame it on my foot!
