POISON IVY DEFEATED!
White Rabbit 1. The White Rabbit
Read a book with "white" or "rabbit" in the title or which has a rabbit or hare in it. (Doesn't need to be a talking one, can just be a pet) Six-Gun Snow White

Some catchup from reads earlier this year as well as a new one. After this post, I'll do individual posts as I finish reads:DC
1. Firestorm/Regeneration/item #3/Solaris
The "companions" regenerate no matter how they are killed
2. Firestorm/Red Hot Fire/item #1/Tess of the D'Urbervilles
Tess works tilling a burning field. There's also a pivotal scene with a fire in a fireplace.
3. Lobo/Cigar Smoke/item #3/Some Kind of Fairy Tale
Several smokers, both of dope and cigarettes
4. Alfred Pennyworth/Guardian to the Bat/item #2/Bloodchild and Other Stories
In one of the best stories, "Amnesty," children are abducted and raised by aliens - someone raises children not their own

Could anyone help me with figuring something out about the villain challenges? The Eye of Minds is a book where there is something called The VirtNet which offers total mind and body immersion. But one gamer is holding players hostage inside the VirtNet. The hostages have all been declared brain-dead. So they aren't physically changed into something digital and placed inside a game, but there consciousness and physical sensations are inside the game.
Would this book count for the challenge? I'm tying to set up what books I'm going to read this month and I'll have to try to find something else if this doesn't work.
Wayland wrote: "I'd argue it would. It sounds like it meets the spirit of the challenge to me."Thanks! I didn't know if the characters had to be physically transformed into something like a computer program and placed inside the game. I was trying to search for a book that would be like that but wasn't coming up with anything.
That sounds like a great book Wayland. Might have to read it at some point. Can't wait to see what you think.
Wayland wrote: "I'm doing Armada for it, Lel, which is basically the requirement inverted, but I'd think it'd work."I'm really curious what you think of it, too. I have that book, but after hearing not that great reviews about it, I've been putting off reading it. But I loved Ready Player One.
Lel wrote: "I would say it counts as well. I was going to read Ready Player One for this one."Thanks! I think you'll really like Ready Player One. It was a really exciting read!
I was also wondering what to read for the villain. I'll go with Armada. I've been trying to get to it but didn't know if it would fit. Ready Player One is one of my favorites. :)
Lel wrote: "I would say it counts as well. I was going to read Ready Player One for this one."I found this book highly enjoyable too
This week was another win for Team Marvel and their lead is growing again.
For them, Wayland recruited Thor, Nara added IronFist to her roster and Shawnie took the achievement for being the first player to recruit Black Panther. In addition to that Christina and Karen defeated Poison Ivy. But the MVP role fell clearly to Joy this week who recruited Ms. Marvel, Iron Fist and took the achievement for being the first player to recruit Squirrel Girl. Now only the Vision remains unrecruited.
For Team DC Veronica added Firestorm to her squad, while Dawn did the same with Lobo. On top of that Christina recruited Katana.
Exciting news also on the Energy Cell front. Both teams acquired 2 cells and this means that Team DC will have the first pick of our portal heroes. Please let me know which hero you pick. I haven't checked if you guys already created a discussion thread or re-used last year's.
We also had a few questions regarding the Arcade challenge for White Rabbit. The books presented are fiine with me. The idea of having your mind sucked into the game or havingg an advanced sort of virtual reality fits with the spirit of the challenge.

I recruited Vision on March 20, Message 678. It must have been overlooked. There were so many posts during the 2 week stretch. :) Thanks!

Just happened to have a fair bit of free time this weekend compared to normal! Plus I live in Aussie, and we're a bit ahead of time compared to everyone else :P
