Readin Slump?

Did anyone find this book very hard to get into? i loved the first two books, but i just can't seem to get into this one. Any tips?

The beginning is a little slow and there's a bunch of new characters that you have to get used to, but it really picks up by the second half!

Pretty much as soon as she meets Mauve I was sold because I had the rivalry between her and Rowan to keep me entertained if nothing else. And then when Manon entered the story I was even more sold because that bitch is baaaaad!

I love this book series, but for some reason, this one caused me a bad reading slump. I kept reading the same page over and over again, and I just couldn't move past page 50, but then, I just set myself and pushed myself this winter break and read the whole thing within two days. I think it gets difficult because everything changes from this book on, but once you are done meeting every single one of the new characters, you really do get engaged very easily.

I had trouble with it, too. The first one was great! The second one started to branch out into a few too many story lines. This book felt disjointed. It wasn't cohesive. Too much happening to too many people in too many different places. I didn't like that Celaena seemed to fall off the wagon with her grief over Nehemia. She seemed to be coping at the end of Crown of Midnight but then she just went to pot and became whiny and intolerable. BUT, I got through it and Queen of Shadows brought things back towards better cohesion. This series has got me all over the place but this book almost killed it for me.

My tip: Buckle down and suffer through. The next book is worth it. Hopefully the fifth and sixth books will be back to the caliber of the first one.
