Alice-Elizabeth (Prolific Reader Alice) (marriedtobooks44) | 4 comments Hey everyone, I'm a Kindle user and I have a couple of questions regarding my device and I was wondering if someone could help me with my questions!

1, My device is 4GB, how many books would my tablet approximately hold?
2, If I was to archive a book from my library on my kindle, would that free up memory space or would I have to completely delete it from my device?

Thanks!

Dee (austhokie) | 370 comments 1. depends on the size of the book - many books if they are only text are less than 100kb; so you could theoretically fit about 4k on there; but it does start slowing down the more you put on there

2. to free up space; you need to remove from the device, but it stills on your amazon account (the cloud)

Thanks so much for replying! I have around 110 books at the moment on it and with lots of freebies out, it's starting to fill up quickly.

Tobias Langhoff (tobiasvl) | 50 comments Amazon themselves advertise 4 GB as holding "thousands of books". Pretty sure 3000 to 4000 is a safe estimate, yeah.

Thank you. That's really helpful, I appreciate it :)

Donald Scott (writeondon) I keep track of sales daily, between those and free books and ARCs and samples alone I have over 900 books on mine, and no issues with Kindle even slowing down, so far (knock wood).

Wow, that's cool :)

Randy Harmelink | 2930 comments Amateurs. :)

I have about 11,000 books in the Cloud right now.

I only put what I'm currently reading or plan to read in the near future onto the Kindle. Even so, I have 12 pages of books on my Kindle.

Because of GoodReads, I don't use my Kindle device as a "bookshelf" that contains all my books. Seriously, how often do you actually look at all those other books? Even when I had physical books, 99.9% of them just sat on the bookshelf gathering dust.

Once I finish a book on my Kindle device, I delete it from the device. It's always still in the Cloud if I want to go back and use it. And it's not a dust magnet! :)
