Moriah (mdavid) | 3 comments I'm looking for any YA book where the main character (preferably a male) either has some kind of power, or is a shifter, or not fully human, or something similar, but is hiding within the "human" world. Maybe he's been ostracized by his people or is hunted by something. I prefer books set in the medieval period, or something similar, but present-day is fine. Maybe he meets a girl or something and he tries to hide what he is from her. Maybe he gets found out by others and is again ostracized by the community somehow.

Anything along these lines is fine, thank you!

I've read, and enjoyed, both. Something like those would be good. Thank you, though!

The Replacement
Flamecaster when it comes out in April.
The Hunt is kind of the reverse. In a world full of vampires, the boy is trying to hide the fact that he's not one.
Throne of Glass features several characters, but one has to hide his magic in order to stay alive. And throughout the series, the main female character is hiding her true identity as well.
The Burning Sky and its sequel involve having to hide magic while living in the human world and being hunted.
For Darkness Shows the Stars has this, but I think it's in third person and I can't remember if the boy hiding his abilities actually gets his own pov or not. Still a good book though.

Do they have to know they're in hiding? If not,
The Demon King and the rest of the Seven Realms series. He doesn't know he's in hiding at first in the first book, but once he does, he goes into deliberate hiding again.

Hold Me Closer, Necromancer he doesn't find out until a ways into the book.

Firelight
The Darkest Minds
Illusive to a certain extent.

Although this is fairly silly

Jumper
This is not like the movie. If you saw the movie, I am sorry.

Burn Mark
I'm not positive about this one; it's been a while.

Witch Week
This is borderline children's

Moriah (mdavid) | 3 comments Thanks for the suggestions so far! I'm looking through them now. I've read a few, such as The Darkest Minds, The Demon Thief, Throne of Glass, and Jumper.

Out of all listed, I think I'm leaning towards books that are similar to Jumper (the book and the movie because I liked them both).

Stevie Fill | 7 comments The Lorien Legacies by Pittacus Lore (I Am Number Four is the first one) - I haven't read the books but they did make a movie of the first book which I rather enjoyed. Also they sound like exactly what you are looking for.

Zombieslayer⚡Alienhunter (theslayingisthunter) | 153 comments I second Stevie's recommendation. I've read the first two books, and though i didn't love them, it's a good story.
