Hi, my first novel, The Legend of Finndragon's Curse, has had a difficult journey on the road to publication. It started four years ago when Dinefwr Press offered me a publishing deal. They wasted over a year of my time and then didn't even have the courtesy to tell me that they were no longer in the publishing business. Fortunately, I'd sensed that something wasn't right and I still have the unsigned contract which I use as motivation when I get rejection letters from other publishers and literary agents.
After an attempt at self-publishing, I withdrew the book from all sales channels and rewrote the opening chapters which dumped too much information on the reader too quickly. I also trimmed 10,000 words, improving the pacing without detracting from the plot. I am really pleased with the end product and have now set off on my third attempt at getting the darned thing published.
I am now trying my luck with Inkshares Publishing, a crowdfunding publisher who offer writers a great deal - if you can get enough pre-orders to go into production. I only need 250 to ensure that an eBook is produced and 750 to also see the book in print. Inkshares will ensure that the book is published to the highest standard, with their excellent team taking care of editing, design, cover art and marketing.
What more could I ask for? Well, that's the thing. I need everyone's support to see my dream become a reality and you can also get a free copy.
Please head over to my Inkshares page where you can read excerpts from the book. I am uploading one chapter at a time and would love to get feedback from readers. You can almost be an editor, proof-reader and beta reader by highlighting passages of the book and adding comments, which can be really useful for the author, and gives readers a real input into the final version of the book.
You can follow me and my project and it would be great if you could pre-order the book. If you haven’t already joined Inkshares, you get a free $5 dollars credit when you register on their site. You can also get free credit by recommending books, so it is possible to get enough to order the eBook for free or a good discount on the physical copy. You get an email when you’ve earned credit and you just have to click CLAIM to get it added to your account.
My Publishing Journey is a recent post on my 1000 World blog. Please take a look if you would like to help me in my ongoing struggle.
If you are a fantasy or sci-fi writer, you're welcome to visit the blog as I'm always promoting writers in these genres. There's something there for readers too.
