Quoleena Sbrocca (qjsbrocca) I have two books in a series, but the series title is listed with the separate number for each of them, so they're not showing up as part of the same series.

The series title of the first book is designated as "The Crossing Hour #1." The series title of the second book is designated as "The Crossing Hour #1.5."

The series title for both books should only be designated as "The Crossing Hour." The actual titles should still be the following: "The Crossing Hour (The Crossing Hour, #1)" and "The Teamster (The Crossing Hour, #1.5)."

Can you please omit the # in the title series, so that both books show up as part of the same series? Can you also make certain that after the adjustment, the titles still appear as I've written them above?

I hope this makes sense!

Thank you!
The Crossing Hour
The Teamster

Series link seems to be properly displaying everything: https://www.goodreads.com/series/1529...

Quoleena Sbrocca (qjsbrocca) The same is true for another series I have. There's only one book in it right now, but if we can get it corrected too, that would be great. The series designation should be "Rayne Trilogy" not "Rayne Trilogy #1." Again, the #1, should only be in the parentheses portion of the actual book title.

Thanks!

Darian | 11 comments In that case, as well, the series name is just listed as "Rayne Trilogy": https://www.goodreads.com/series/1692...

Quoleena Sbrocca (qjsbrocca) I thought this would be confusing. Again, the book titles - which include the series and number in parentheses - is correct. I am talking about the series title designation. Here is the screen shot of all three books:

Quoleena Sbrocca (qjsbrocca) When you look on my author page, you will also see what I mean. It shows that "The Crossing Hour" series only has one book, when there are two.

Darian | 11 comments I was linking you to the series page, so you can see that it is behaving properly. That's just the way it displays the information. Yours looks exactly the same as GRRM's Song of Ice and Fire books - the series field gives the name of the series, then #n where n is its spot in the series.

Darian | 11 comments Ah, I thought you might be wondering about the Crossing Hour thing. Because the second book is not a whole number (1.5, rather than 2), it doesn't show up on your author page - only the main books, not intermediate novellas or short stories, are included from that link. But both of them DO show up in the series at the series link:

So the only way to get #1.5 to show up with the series is to change it to #2? (Which I obviously can't do.) Why is that? It's still part of the series, and it's longer than a novella. It's neither an intermediate novella nor a short story.

Darian | 11 comments No, it's possible to set anything as a primary work by editing the series page (and I just did). Might take the database a while to propagate that back to your author page, though.
In general, whole numbers are used by most authors/publishers for their main stories, with decimal points in between for ancillary/shorter works.

message 11: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16361 comments Actually, the series page says that both are primary works, which is incorrect for a fractional number. Did you just change that, Darian?

Quoleena, the cover says it's #1.5. If it's not an intermediate title, why isn't it numbered #2?

message 12: by Quoleena (new)

Quoleena Sbrocca (qjsbrocca) Because it's a tangent book, and the main series characters don't appear until the end

That sounds like a non-primary work to me.

Fixed series.

I don't see any changes having been made. Regardless, I've decided to change it to #2, since the #1.5 is received as odd all around. It's a full length book, just shorter than the first one in the series.

I'm uploading an alternate cover edition with the subtitle written as "The Crossing Hour, #2." It hasn't sold enough copies for me to be concerned with anyone being confused, especially since the rest of the title and cover is exactly the same. Before I upload the change, I want to confirm that when I change it from #1.5 to #2, it won't be reset to the original.

Thanks!

Quoleena Sbrocca (qjsbrocca) So, can you please change it from #1.5 to #2? I already made the change on Amazon, and it's in the review stage.

message 16: by Darian (new)

Darian | 11 comments Changed in series list to book #2, set it back to a primary work. Again, not sure how long that will take to propagate through to your author page.
And certainly, the author should be able to decide which works are primary and which non- for their own series.

Quoleena Sbrocca (qjsbrocca) Thanks so much for handling that for me! A lot smoother now.

Not when it's a question of short works interspersed among novel-length ones. But that does not seem to be the case here.
