Rosu Aquabutts Gosh, I've never read an HR heroine quite like Pippa. I think she might be ruining every other HR heroine for me. I'm desperate for more leading ladies who are nerdy and insecure and honest and... odd.

Anyone have some?

Laura For unique heroines, you might really like some of Courtney Milan's books. Her heroines are always interesting and usually strong women.

In fact, Pippa reminded me a little bit of Violet Waterfield in Courtney Milan's "The Countess Conspiracy" in that Violet was a scientist.

Minnie in "The Duchess War" (a definite favorite of mine) was quirky and wore glasses like Pippa. She has a surprising secret that makes her very interesting.

Jane Fairfield in "The Heiress Effect" is also "odd" though she wasn't necessarily one of my favorite heroines, but I thought the book was excellent regardless.

And another one of my favorite's by Courtney Milan was Unraveled - but in that novel, it's the Hero who is on the quirky side. The heroine is a strong woman, though I'm not sure how quirky. So far all of Courtney Milan's heroines have been interesting characters.

I get a similar feel from Sarah MacLean's and Courtney Milan's writing (I love them both, my two favorite romance authors). What I love most about both their writing is the dialogue between the H and h. Captivating.

Elizabeth Oh yes! Merlin Lambourne in Midsummer Moon by Laura Kinsale is a lady inventor with a pet hedgehog. Very unusual romance novel for 1987. I think it may have influenced some writers.
When A Scot Ties The Knot also has this kind of vibe.

Jessica If you like Sarah Maclean, it may be worth picking up her latest- A Rogue not Taken. Sophie Talbot reminded me a lot of Pippa, so much so that I am going back to reread her and Cross' story!

Ellie You might also like Tessa Dare. Her Spindle Cove series also has some interesting heroines. In A Week to be Wicked, Minerva was a quirky geologist.

Becky Yes, definitely check out Tessa Dare's A Week to be Wicked! I have to say, it's the best of the series and the heroine is very much like Pippa.

-Beatrix Hathaway from Love in the Afternoon (The Hathaways, #5) by Lisa Kleypas.
-Evangeline Jenner from Devil in Winter(The Wallflowers, #3) by Lisa Kleypas.
-Daisy Bowman from Scandal in Spring (The Wallflowers, #4) by Lisa Kleypas.

Basically any Lisa Kleypas book, she's fantastic and always creats amazing lead females.

Avid Booker Yes. Basically the whole Spindle Cove series by Tessa Dare. Something is odd with each girl. You could try When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare too, she draws bugs and studies crabs.

You might like the story Ravished by Amanda Quick. I hated it, but you might enjoy it.
