Craig Munro 37 sales in 8 days. Looks doable to me! I can't afford to buy more than the one copy, but I'll be tweeting and recommending it daily for the next week.

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments Guys, there are 7 days to go to get Tony's book into Quill. He is SO close.

I'm CONVINCED we can do this if we work together. After I got to play Sanders in the live reading of Tony's screenplay version of this book, consider me pumped and determined.

Who's with me?

I think we should create here a template reader update that we can all send out to our readers. I'll wait to see who's on board, but I will probably get impatient and get the ball rolling later tonight. ;)

Amanda Orneck (amandaorneck) I've already gotten a couple of my peeps to order. It's definitely doable.

Amanda Orneck (amandaorneck) This morning I got an idea, well really it's an answer to a problem I see on Inkshares, namely the fact that they don't promote the books on their site. Well I think I can, so I would like to start with Dax Harrison this week and see if we can't get some buzz going.

The basic plan goes something like this: I will create a twitter/FB/Instagram campaign for the book, spread over the week. I also want to create a blog tour, so if any of the other writers want to help promote Dax I will organize a multistop tour where each blog gets something different. For instance, John could do an impromptu World Builders (if you have already, you could repost it) today, I could post an exclusive excerpt tomorrow, and then someone else could post a review on Wednesday, and we go through the cycle. I would then tweet out all these "stops" and get a decent blast over all the social media channels, hopefully bringing in some buzz for the book and getting Tony his last 30 orders.

Tony Valdez | 49 comments You guys have been amazing! Tonight I'm sitting at 5 days to go and 15 orders till publishing! I've sent my update template to John and some guest blog posts out to Jamison, Amanda and Christine. I'm also going to try to make time to get a new promo video up in the next day or so. Man, in just a couple of days this has gone from nerve-racking to practically a fun-filled victory lap of a final week. (*knock on wood*) You guys are terrific, and I owe you big time.

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments I just sent out the template round-up reader update to several authors via email -- this is the best way to do it I think because the images don't copy here to Goodreads.

Let's do this!

Mykl Walsh (RFSaunders) | 149 comments I'm keeping a close eye on it - am aiming to generate the 250th pre-order:-)

Currently needs 7 more, plus mine. If someone else beats me to the 250th spot, that's cool too.

John Robin (john_robin) | 299 comments I've changed the title for this post to include "Successful" and have put it with the top posts. I'd like to keep it open for anyone here who wants to weigh in to discuss what we all did here that worked as a useful reference to other incentives.

Tony, when you have a moment, tell us your run down of what you saw work well in the last push, in particular, the things people did to help that you found effective. Hopefully these ideas can be remembered / drawn upon for future or ongoing projects.

Tony Valdez | 49 comments Thanks again guys!

Let's see. First off, I'd say the entire Review-A-Thon event was a major success. Quite a few reviews poured in for Dax which I'm sure helped put a lot of new eyes on it. I've received word from several folks that they absolutely loved the scene reading on JF and Paul's live videocast as well. So much so, that Cara and a few of us are now planning a new radio play / audiobook reading for a scene out of She Is The End. We're still figuring out the mechanics, as this idea just sorta exploded on Twitter yesterday, haha. But I believe this will be a nice test run, and could lead to us producing more of these in the future for other projects in need.

It's a safe bet that John's push to include a promo template on our fellow authors' reader updates was also a major help.

I also noticed a massive amount of retweets as I posted my own Dax reader updates. Gotta love those hashtags! #bookboost #scifi #mustread #amreading... Did it directly help with sales? Can't say for certain, but it did catch the attention of a few Twitter bot accounts that pushed even more retweets to their followers.

And finally, Christine's author interview & exclusive Dax excerpt, Amanda's review on her author blog, and the Inkshares blog guest post. Again, no idea if they were directly responsible for more sales, but I'm sure they didn't hurt.

Christine's interview was especially fun to do! I think that format might help other projects in the future. The invite to host an all-new excerpt from the book, not even included on Inkshares, makes for a nice exclusive vibe for the curious reader. "Ooh, exclusive! I gotta check that out!" Also, I think it's really refreshing to read an author being directly interviewed by another author, as opposed to just posting another self-written "Please buy my book" post. We're already doing plenty of those on Inkshares itself, haha.

Anyway, those are my quick thoughts at the moment. Feel free to chime in, everyone else! :)

-Tony

Amanda Orneck (amandaorneck) Did you see any sales from the Twitter campaigning from the Quill Dreamers account? If not that was a lot of work for no gain.

message 19: by Tony (new)

Tony Valdez | 49 comments Ack! Sorry, forgot to mention that too. Thank you so much, by the way.

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure. I'm fairly certain my "Where Visitors Come From" graph saw a Twitter bump in the final days, but is there a way to track exactly what sales came from Twitter?
