SOLVED. Girl who was picked on about her weight by popular guy in school [s]

Looking for a book i read in the last six months or so it s short story i think. I don't remember the title, author, or the genre all i remember is:
There's this girl who is picked (bullied) on about her body by the popular guy in school and his friends. One day she sees a flier about joining the track team i think an decides to sign up. She goes to the meet after school and the coach asks them to pick what they are signing up for she chooses shock put (or whatever it is called where you spin in a circle an the release a disc to see how far it will go).
It is her and this guy that practicing the the disc thing an i think hers didn't go very far or something and the popular guy and his friend happens to be on the field and the makes a comment about her weight being the problem or something.
Next thing i remember is that she and her mom is on there way to a bbq to meet her moms fiance or boyfriend. We she get to the house to meet him and his son she finds out that said son is the popular boy(i want to say his first or last name might be kennith but not sure). She meets his aunt and cousin. The cousin (i think het name might be Samantha maybe again not sure) goes to sit next to her a talks to her about how spoiled he is i think. That all i remember if you can help thanks.

I've read so many books on my kindle i can't remember which one it was. I just hope i didn't accidently delete it from my kindle when i decided to get rid of some i know longer wanted.

I've been searching for the book for you Shelia, but I'm finding a block. Is there anything else you can remember about this book? Was it a new book when you read it? Is it Young Adult? Can you recall any other details at all? When I try searching for some of the key points you put out it just brings up loads of books about bullying, which isn't helpful. You said it was a short story. Do you mean it was a short book like 130 pages? Or do you mean a short story you can buy on amazon that's only a few pages long?
