G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Ok. last time I realized I didn't give enough time for people to see the thread and enter their books so this time I'm starting it well in advance.

Here are the rules:

1-Has to be available on Amazon as a print version. (If it is by a third party seller, it's fine by me. As long as I can order it through Amazon.com.)

2- No more than 14.99$ unless your book is a door stopper or a all-in-one series.

3- Genres I'm not too difficult because this is mostly to help Indies and I don't promise to read and review the books. (I haven't started the first batch yet. I'm still trying to finish reading books I promised to read a while ago.) HOWEVER, it has to be fiction and sorry, no poetry, no erotica. (Well...Sex scenes are fine, but I wouldn't want a book centered around hot scenes only. Give me a plot!)

So back to genres: Scifi, any kind of fantasy, paranormal, horror, thriller, crime, suspense, adventure, romance. (If your genre doesn't fit in those, and was not among the restriction noted above, try me. The worst that can happen is that your book won't get among the ten finalists.)

4- Nominate YOUR book. PLEASE, don't be shy and hide behind someone else's. :P Oh and moderators are welcome (and encouraged) to offer their own.

Towards the end of January, I will choose ten finalists and as I did the first time, I will randomly choose the two winners with the help of a third party. Now, I can't forget my fellow moderators so I will also choose at least one book from our hard working friends.

So my promise to you is that I will buy at least three books from SIA members. (In the end, I may buy more books but I'll see how my finances are first.)

NOTE: In this thread, links are permitted, so please leave a link to your printed book (here or on Amazon) along with a short blurb. Not the one on your page. I can read that one.

Good luck!

EDITED: Forgot to add that it doesn't matter if I read and reviewed your book already. You can still enter it. :)

I have some printed books over there, sitting on that cardboard box for a surround system that I am too scared to throw away.
I could probably just send you one. You are pretty cool after all.

Amanda Siegrist (amandasiegrist) | 190 comments Thanks, G,G. I didn't do this last time. Here's mine. Protecting You -A McCord Family Novel.
Contemporary Romance (and can be considered a standalone).

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1512303...

Edit: Forgot to add a blurb.

Ava Rainer has it all, until she doesn't. She loses one of her best friends, Detective Jimmy McCord, and it's all her fault. At least that's what she thinks.

To help her out of her misery, Austin, Jimmy's brother, demands she comes home with him to heal....right into the arms of Zane, Jimmy's other brother. He blames her for Jimmy's death. But can he see past that to help her heal, while healing himself at the same time?

Michael P. Dunn (wordboy1) | 86 comments Quick question: If we have multiple books available in print versions, can we nominate all of them or just one?

message 8: by G.G. (last edited Dec 19, 2015 11:40AM) (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments You can nominate them all in one post with separate links. However, unless I decide to buy more books than mentioned, I will probably only choose one to enter the final ten. It wouldn't be too fair for others if one author would win both spots. But I have nothing against having choices. :)

I noticed you have a few very low cost ones. If one of those should win, I might just get a second (and/or third) one. :P

It follows Cassidy Andrews through a time of transitioning. She moves to the busy city of Chicago from the quiet town of Lexington Indiana. We follow her through her time of love, faith, career, family and friendship.

She may be from the south, but she's no country bumpkin. Cassidy is full of spirit and has an interesting time making it all work out in her favor.

Thank you for the opportunity. My inspiring coming of age novel, Twisted in a Positive Way Twisted in a Positive Way is set in Lagos, Nigeria and centers around the life of a charming heroine Adaugo who experiences a tragic loss and becomes torn between succumbing to cultural expectations and pursuing her dreams. Hi G.G.,
Okay, here it is.
Dancing With The Dead.
a blend of science and visionary fiction, it's been called "exciting, gripping," "exceptional," "visionary as well as topical," "unique, fast-paced and utterly readable,"and making "shades of the great Isaac Asimov appear."
The main character, Fahd Abdul al-Sharfa, is a jihadist who has been trained for one mission--to destroy Luna City and everyone in it. But he falls in love with just the wrong person, a cat-like, bipedal alien astrophysicist named Quenby, begins to question his own beliefs, and realizes he must choose between his mission or love.

I noticed that you already have my novella collection, The Villain & The Golden Apple, on your to-read list (don't know if you got the ebook copy yet). It's in hardcover on Amazon for only $6.25, so it's not a budget strainer. http://www.amazon.com/Villain-Golden-...

Still, it's much cheaper on Lulu.com at $4.50, if you have an account there. http://www.lulu.com/shop/ken-doggett/...

message 18: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Thanks everyone for participating. I've added all your names as well as your books to my list. :)
Keep them coming!

Thanks Ken, but no, I don't have an account with Lulu. The little I would save would be eaten up by the shipping cost. Buying all those books at once on Amazon saves me the shipping cost and adds the chance for the books to have the ALSO BOUGHT tag. :P (At least, I would think so.)

And yes, I have in in ebook, just haven't had the chance to get around to it yet. So many to read.

Anyway, whether I have a suggestion in eBook or not doesn't hinder its chance to win. As I said, even if I would have read it, it would still be entered in the contest. To me a physical book is so much better than an eBook that can easily get lost among the hundreds of others (if not the thousands).

Joseph Ferguson | 40 comments Thanks G.G.
My book is a collection of short fiction following the exploits of a single character which sort of adds up to a novel. The character, Basement Man, is a wild, misogynist drunk on the outside, and a thoughtful loser internally, constantly at war with himself and his circumstances. He is viewed from many angles; omniscient narrators, third person observers, and once from the first person perspective. Some narrators are unreliable telling readers more than they themselves know or admit to.

Here is the Amazon link to both the physical and Kindle editions:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0184SEI8O

Thanks again.
Joe

message 21: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Jeannel I would love to be added to the list!

The Travelers is my first novel

The town Alex calls home has always felt safe to get until three girls her age are found dead. When Alex's father forces her mother to skip town with him, possibly for good, they leave Alex behind to fend for herself and unfold years of lies they have built her life upon. Jaze, who has been invisible by her side for months, appears just in time to eliminate any normality that remained in her life. He's tall, dark and terrifying, though that wasn’t his intent. Just as Jaze is earning Alex's trust, the Council, a feared and powerful group of leaders from his world, orders him to protect her with his life.
Jaze quickly becomes torn between his duty and his love for Alex. When her real memories of her childhood return, Alex tumbles head first into Jaze's strange world and into his arms. While Jaze soon finds that Alex may not be the ordinary girl he had originally assumed her to be. Together the two of them discover that sometimes love and simplicity aren't always options in life.

Iffix Santaph | 324 comments I'm a little late to the party.
Impulse (Forgotten Princess, #1) by Iffix Y. Santaph
Deception (Forgotten Princess, #2) by Iffix Y. Santaph
Conspiracy (Forgotten Princess Book 3) by Iffix Santaph
About this series: It began as a sci-fi retelling of a classic fairy-tale but took a significant step, somewhere along the line.
In Impulse, a wicked queen orders her alien slave to assassinate the princess. But the slave sees his chance at freedom slipping away. So he poisons her to look dead, presenting her to the queen, who sees through his facade and he narrowly escapes her robot army. He hides the princess in an underground world, where a pair of unsuspecting teens find her and assume she is dying. They race to her rescue...
Thus begins a series where a Forgotten Princess rises to fight for her rightful place as Queen. It transcends genre the following ways:
Impulse is very nearly a sci-fi fairy tale.
Conspiracy is a sci-fi with a dash of steampunk.
Deception is an alien postapocalyptic sci-fi that turns into a sci-fi epic.
In the next few months, Retrospect will be complete and is partly swashbuckling.
Overall, I would suppose the series is Space Opera. But more importantly, the series is epic fun.

Could you add the links to the books please? Because no matter how I search, it will only give me the eBooks for book 2 and book 3.

And I second Christina, one should prevent the sale of the other.

Hello Tamara,

Is your printed book for sale on Amazon? Because that's the main requirement for this. I know I sound picky but I'm using Amazon gift card to buy the books: Gift cards I either bought and/or received for doing surveys.

I'm rather surprised that your book is on Createspace but not distributed by Amazon.
