Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1513 comments Hi Bea, I've just landed on your property, can I please have 3 picks from my Bookopoly shelf?

message 7: by Bea (new)

Bea | 5296 comments Mod
Here are your picks, Marina:

The Call of the Wild - I loved this classic.
The Sunday Philosophy Club - a favorite author, also monthly shelf (series)
The Well of Loneliness

In all fairness, you have the chance to bid for my property, since I am very late reading one of my books.

Here is the rule that applies to my property:

4. Repossession of Property:
a. If, at any time, you did not finish reading a book within the stipulated 4 weeks, one of your Properties may be placed on Notice of Repossession and will be up for sale, if others land on it.
b. If you manage to finish your book before anyone bids and settles on your Repossessed Property then you get to keep your property.

I don't think that Lyn has posted it, but she should have as I requested it. My book was due 1/21/16. Still not done reading it.

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1513 comments Thanks Bea, that was quick! I think I'll go with The Sunday Philosophy Club, I'm in high need of some lightness and humor in this period.

I don't think I'll bid for your property, but thanks for telling me. I'm afraid I won't have time to read the book within the week.

No problem. Just wanted to be fair. I really like all of Alexander McCall Smith's books. I hope you enjoy this one.

Wow! How did you get around the board in such a short time?

Oh, I see. You had some BIG rolls!

OK, let's see if I can pick better choices for you this time.

On Chesil Beach - oldest on your list
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - series
Timon of Athens - never heard of this Shakespeare

message 13: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1513 comments Haha, yes, I had a couple of 12's which got me around the board in a very short time ;-)

Difficult to choose from your 3 picks, they're all books I really want to read. I think I'll go with Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Thanks so much!

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1513 comments Hi Bea, this is so funny, I landed on your property once more! It's true I loved Don Quixote, so maybe that's the reason why :-)
Could you please pick 3 books from my Bookopoly shelf?

Wow! If it weren't for your visits, Marina, I would be off tilting at windmills...and looking for Sancho.

The Call of the Wild - I rated this one 5*.
Caleb Williams: Or, Things As They Are - oldest on your shelf
The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma - highest rated on your shelf

message 16: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1513 comments Haha, glad to keep you working, Bea :-)

Thanks for your beautiful picks, I'll choose The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma as it looks very interesting to me at the moment, and I probably would have read it anyway.

Coralie | 1658 comments Hi Bea, I have landed on Don Quixote and would like you to pick me three books from my bookopoly shelf.

message 18: by Bea (new)

Bea | 5296 comments Mod
Hello, Coralie.

I have picked for you:
The Little Paris Bookshop
What Angels Fear
The Wise Man's Fear

The first two books were 4* reads for me (that is very good in my scale). The last book is your highest rated book. Have you read book #1?

message 19: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 1658 comments I think I will go with What Angels Fear as it is one of my LOST books and I am behind in them.

I read #1 in the other series years ago but haven't yet gone any further (as is very common with me). I will get around to it soon but I need something a bit shorter at the moment as I am still plodding through The Stand.

message 20: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 1658 comments Here I am again. I enjoyed What Angels Fear and am now looking for three more choices from from my bookopoly shelf.

Hi, Coralie. Here's your request:
Speaking from Among the Bones - a fun read
The Wise Man's Fear - highest rated
Capricornia - next to the oldest on your list

The oldest book on your list you have already rated, so I figured you had read it.

Hi Lusie...

Here's my picks:
The Secret Garden
Breathless
The Fault in Our Stars

I am behind on one of my books, so if you want to claim this property out from under me, read your choice within a week.

message 24: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Thank you Bea! I'm going for The Fault in Our Stars.
Okay, I'll try to read it within the week.
