I remember they were both assigned to help a woman. They helped that woman get into a relationship (view spoiler) .
If it helps, I remember a scene where the male ghost complained how much longer it took women in the shower than men, and the female ghost retorted that women need extra time to shave their legs and underarms. Weird thing to remember, but that's how it is sometimes, the oddest things just stick to my brain.

The story was about a man and a woman who technically died but came back as two ghosts in order to help a woman. What I can recall was that the female ghost died during a routine surgery to remove her tonsils because she didn't heed doctors orders to fast before the surgery. I don't remember what the male ghost died from. In the beginning the male and female ghost bickered a lot and didn't get along and then toward the end they began to fall for each other.
I have a feeling that they needed to help this woman find love or maybe she was pregnant?
What I can recall was that at the end the female and male ghosts come "back to life," meet each other and fall in love in real life. They remember their experiences as ghosts and when they bump into the woman again she does not recognize them from their time helping her.
I would very much like to re-read this book if I can!! TIA!
