Nicole (nicolescoble) Following on the from the recent thread about how many books everyone usually reads at once, I am also super curious to know how many books you usually have out from the library at once!

At the moment I have about 30 books out, my library lets you borrow unlimited books for one month. You can renew (if nobody has reserved it) for another month.

I often end up having eyes too big for my stomach, so to speak, and borrow WAY too many, then it's a mad scramble to actually read them before returning them, but often I find a way.

Ideally I should probably just borrow 5 at a time and get more when I am done, but I just can't be stopped when I'm in there each week! It's just so tempting when there are so many books and you can just grab them.

Tonya (radio_goddess) | 10 comments I usually check out five or six books at a time. But my library only lets you check them out for 2 weeks at a time, so I have to keep the numbers down!

Nicole (nicolescoble) That definitely makes sense Tonya! My new year's resolution is to calm down and just borrow a few at a time :) And to stop reserving everything because inevitably all my reserves come in at once.

Rae (rae4jesus) I have a range from 40-80 out at one time, most are for cooking kr sewing or tiny houses really anything i am interested in, i just skim through them then turn them back in.

That is the beauty of the library, isn't it! I always feel like a king, I go in with a basket knowing I can just pick up anything that takes my fancy and there's no harm if you only end up skimming and returning. 40–80 is impressive! Now I don't feel any regrets about having 30 out at once.

Ali (aliciaclare) | 1 comments I'm not sure how many books my library lets you check out, but I'd say I typically have 3 physical books and about 3-4 ebooks at a time. Our check out is for 3 weeks at a time.

Olga (hildalev) | 5 comments Right now I have 9, one is read and can be returned and 1 can be collected. I have 3 reserved, 1 will come in a couple of weeks and 2 in about 2 months. But this is actually quite a lot for me. I try to have about 5-6 books at a time, 1 or two of them graphic novels for a quick read.

Nicole (nicolescoble) I love that our answers seem to fall into one of two camps: less than 10 or more than 20!

Yay! Another person making me feel better about my life choices :D

I occasionally borrow e-books too but then I forget that I have them because they're tucked away in the app! I have noticed that the library apps have improved though. My library uses BorrowBox and Axis360 and the apps are like 10 times better than a year ago.

Jess (boomalicious) My library allows you to check out 50 items at a time, I range anywhere from 1-50 items at any given time.

Currently I have 6 checked out and 20 on hold. But the ones on hold are ones that are due to be published or ones that someone else already has out.

On my kindle though, that is another story (ha). I have 20 or so items on there at all times including my kindle unlimited books and ebooks borrowed from my library's digital collection. Books are so much easier to carry when they are digital.

How many books are on your kindles and devices?

I just looked and I'm at 23 and 3 of them are a series in a digital bundle.

Rae (rae4jesus) Nook has over 300 but those are mine to keep. I love a real book.
